Keep cleaning mate , I find it worse in wet weather sometimes after wiping down pole hose i extend and wipe down each section at a time i find this works as well and reduces wear

Although with working in the heavy rain this week section 1 on my pole has worn down quickly so will have to respray. Mike

Takes a lot if time out the day when you add

This always is far worse in the winter I find - especially cleaning rural properties.

I keep  cloth in the back of the van and always wipe the hose down when coiling it away after each job. Sometimes on particularly gritty jobs this is not enough and I then have to hose down the inside of the pole to flush the grit out before next use.

In wet weather or when the ground is damp and hose is picking up dirt this what i do

I clean the front of  house first and of course upstairs then downstairs windows then before i go to back of the house i wipe down and coil up hose so as not to extend pole with dirt and grit on pole hose , Then wipe down again before putting in truck . Mike

Alex, how about some rubber end caps?
I have one bought from one of your rivals a couple of years ago - they last forever and the hole can be made quite tight to the hose size.

Hi Dave

I have played around with smaller end-cap hole sizes on our poles. The issue that I have found is that when I reduced the hole below the 18mm we currently use, when closing the pole, the pole hose then does not slide out of the pole easily and ends up jamming the pole. For me this is more annoying and time consuming than dirty hose.

Clients have come up with several ideas for mini brushes at the base to wipe the hose, but ultimately these all end up getting the way of the hose when closing the pole.

(ps. I tried out that hose from the supplier you mentioned and I have found that it does not stay in the push-fit valves adequately for my purposes)

Really? How odd. I've found the hose to be marginally oversized for the push fit valves. Mine has never pulled out or leaked.

The caps I've found never wear whilst the plastic ones wear within weeks leaving a much bigger hole and the risk of chopping into the hose with the section on the bend where it exits the pole.

Purefreedom pole hose tidy. I combine it with a trigger. Pole hose stays nice and clean, result a pole that barely wears at all. Just retired my Mk. 1 SL-X, almost 5 years old. Adds a little bit of weight when pole is collapsed but no where near enough to make a difference.

Strange - this yellow hose pulled straight out - this could be the problem we have found in maintaining consistency from a supplier. I can always send it to you for you to try. Drop me an email if you would like this.

I have seen your SL-X a while back and it was I agree amazingly clean and well looked after.

However I could not use a pole with bits of metal strapped to it. It would annoy me every time I held it whilst working.

Yes I'll drop you a line later. I can send you a bit of mine if you like. If the suppliers a fiddling about with diameters then I might not get the same again  ??? The hose I have takes a bit of effort to shove it in and so never pulls out. Doesn't twist much at all and in the last year doesn't come back up the outside of the pole base even on a 44' pole.
Aquadapter hose is a perfect fit too but I can't work with it at all.

Aquadapter new orange hose is a good step in the right direction

Me too, but it's high up the pole, very near the clamps. So in practice the best position of hands is to stay close to hip level, to minimize strain, so it never gets in the way. But that's personally speaking though.

Another plus is that I barely get black hands. It takes some getting used to. Makes more sense with a trigger, another thing I personally can't do without as it's so quick to cut off water. And dragging the hose after you with just grabbing the microbore is so handy and safes time again. Also, no poo up the pole! (Let's not go there, awful)

That's because he doesn't go to work, he masquerades as a window cleaner. He really works in an office
