Alright lads,

Who are you using (if anyone) for accident insurance? I mean the sort that pays you if you cant work because of an accident. I suppose in our game it would be good to be covered for something that stops you working that wasnt done on the job too, like a football injury or serious disease like cancer.

Anyone got any advice?

My life insurance covers critical illness like cancer, however I have yet to find a decent accident cover.

I do tend to keep 3-6 money to one side in case of an accident.

i have claimed on it twice first time i was off for a month with torn muscle from nearly falling off a ladder, the next was when i hit a car at 60mph head on without warning and was off work for nearly 6 months a physio for 2 years (backs still knackered now), the hospital part they didnt pay me out as I needed to be there an hour and a half more to be classed as hospitalized i still dont understand how someone can be stretched away with suspected broken neck and back not be classed as hospitalized but there you go such is life, i remember getting wheeled outside asked to get out the seat and had to sit on the floor as could hardly walk waiting for my wife to pick me up, not sure if its a lot of paper work was involved in keeping me in or they were sort of beds that night, that cost me a 20k payout from my insurance company, so the hospital policy cover needs to be checked just as much as the accident part imo.

Exeter friendly have policies to suit all budgets just google them, you also need job specific cover because this is a get out clause for a lot of sickness / accident cover.

try western provident, a not for profit company, i think they are doing an offer at the min, something like pay for 1 and eithrer get spouse free or pay for adults and get childs cover free, cant remember off top of my head but if yiour interested i can find out for you, also do staff sick days as well, robert brown - 07837 883894 robert.brown@wpa.org.uk

Thanks for the responses. I will look into this today, seeing as im not working today as ive broken my toe......you culdnt make it up.

sorry to Smile but that did make me laugh, I hope your toe mends super quick fella, I totally now understand why your looking at getting some.
I guess thats how these companies get most of thier new custom, hindsights a beep isnt it

i have the same, once you sign up you have to wait 21 days  for the cover to kick in & me, i got hit by a motorbike & broke my foot & wrist on the 20th day so wasn't covered BUT they paid me anyway & its £100 for each night in hospital, i got over £3000
