Reach my goal
« on: November 26, 2012, 08:37:53 pm »
This year I decided to set myself a goal.. Not to work a single weekend, in fact not to work a single Saturday either, and I have found that although I've had some resistance to this from some people, most have found time during the week to have the work done, this includes the commercial custys who say "it'll have to be done in a Saturday , when told I couldn't  do it the have made time during the week, I have always hated working weekends so this year has been great to say No, this has not affected takings in fact this has been a good year - next year my goal is to add not working on Friday afternoons- if I can manage it
What goals have you guys reached this year

To work Saturdays  ;D

I'd have to take the kids to mates houses or clubs the mrs would leave me jobs to do or worse take me shopping and that's enough to drive a man to drink...perhaps that's my goal for next year to start drinking.

Well done Colin and you're making the same or more than when you were doing weekends?

Well Colin, this has been one of my worst years for some time, so my goal for next year is to work every Friday afternoon and Saturday on your patch!  ;D

Ive never done residential jobs on Saturdays.  A few commercial this year but I dont mind it as will take the Monday off and its nice to be out on a sunny Monday relaxing while the rest of the world is working.

I find goals easy to make but seldom reach them.

I'll only do domestics if its a nice hourly rate or a decent size job although a good customer can sometimes need a favour.

Horses for courses but I think 4.5 days a week and half a day creating work is the ideal. It actually takes discipline NOT to work when it comes along.

Dave, Feel free to work on my patch on weekend if you like... Just as long as you pop with lunch, I'll just about gotten out of slumber by the times the pies arrive

Ha, ha. The good thing about a bad year is that it's usually followed by a good one. Repeats as normal as are referrals, but done virtually b...er all marketing this year, spent around £750.. only and most of that was a waste of time ad in LEP.
Good to hear youve continued to be busy this year though, two TMs and a few porty operators in our area have given up, so I'm getting a bit through from their past custies.
Nowhere near desperate, the pensions come in handy  ;)

Colin, How old are you mate?

Why do you only want to work only 4 days a week?

I find that I spend alot more money when i'm not working!!

Surely if your fit and young enough then it makes sense to work as much as you can no? Extra money comes in handy for slack times, or to invest in other things.

Sure, you can make the average weekly salery in in a day or two cc'ing but why limit yourself to that.

Do you have a young family?

Tony

Well not as old Dave, but who is ?
It's not the money mate, I'm just a lazy sod and I don't like working too hard and I'd rather have the time off.
