I wouldn't say who allegedly shrank it, as it's hearsay anyway. But I will say, they've been in business a long time, and are not NCCA members.  I'll mention it to them when I bump into them though...

David, that is NOT well shrunk. I don't have any photo's but I've seen some shockers in the past. I bet some experienced members must have some great photo's somewhere.

Is it a B/wilton or a wool mix?

Seems an odd type of carpet to shrink if its not B/wilton.

Maybe it was badly fitted to begin with and just needs 'kicked' back in.

I've seen a few and none were my doing, even one thanks to NCCA member.
The 'best' I saw was in a hotel bar area following a flood from a burst pipe. It was half inch from the edge when I turned up but by the time I got going it was 1.5 inches away from the edge!

Looks like one of those old American polyprop carpets,

Fitting looks ok tucked down behind gripper so probably enough to stretch back.maybe fit wider door bar on other piece.

Woven carpets such as Axminsters will shrink if flooded. They don't actually shrink they just change dimensions
We've had flooded hotel carpets go by 3 to 4 inches and have managed to stretch them back with power stretchers, in one instance saving over £100,000 on replacement costs.
Don't know what type that is in the photo but looks pretty minor and a good fitter should be able to sort it. Notice I said "good fitter" just like carpet cleaners there are some poor ones.

This does not look like your typical shrinker  , what is the type of backing, is it too late to take a snap of the backing, i would be interested in seeing it.
