has anyone got sickness cover if so how much ,were can you get it from and have you claimed on it,was it a good experience,did they pay?
just trying to see if it is worth it

As with most insurances there are a lot of variables which could affect quotes,one of the biggest ones is,does cover kick in on the first day of sickness.As for the small print,look out for the one that tells you about maximum percentage of benefit,eg if your profit for the year is 10k,some companies will pay a maximum 75?% of this figure,these are rough figures but something to look out for.

Make sure it's job specific because some of the cover is a con you have to be nearly dead before they pay out.
I have cover with exeter friendly a pay £17.99 for £600 a month they have various plans to suit all budgets.

Today i found out next year i might be having a operation on both hip bones to reduce the width of the hip bone and stop the constant ache and pains i get six weeks off work, no pay and none of my insurance's cover this

yes, I have been in touch with the tax man, Housing and council tax benefit and the DWP and I can legally get working tax credit plus sickness benefit of almost £190 per week, the working tax is paid for 28 weeks, after this i can only claim sickness benefit of £85 per week.


I also qualify for housing and council tax benefits, and I am also ellible for DLA and a Motorbility car.

So if I get the maximum of all of these, it comes too roughly £400 per week and whats cool is I only pay a very very small amount of NI each year and unlike insurance policys it covers pre exsisting conditions.

The business is not effected and will carry on as normal, I employ so as long as I don't physicially work, the I am entitled to all of the above.

Years ago, I ran my own business but I had to go onto long term sick, I had no insurance and because I was a sole trader it was a nightmare to get any money, I think it took 6 months to sort out, I had to supply full accounts of the business and where ALL the money went.

I was told then that if I was a limited company all of this would not be nessesary, last year I had the same op that I am having in 2 weeks, then I was a sole trader and did not qualify for anything, now I get everything.

we see.it take you 6months to get a answer about a mobilty car,after letter form doctors, social worker etc,then when you get the ok it take another 3 months to order it,and by then you be back to work.lol
mobilty cars are only given out for 3 or more years if you have a adapted cars,so i find this hard to believe

you will only get top rate of DLA if you are serious disabled,which you wont b classed as..

Where do I start, first I will be in plaster for 3 months, next I am not allowed to work for between 2 and 3 years, the surgeon has told me that if I ignor him, then I stand a very good chance of losing either one or both feet.

I had my last op 16 months ago and that leg is still only at 40%, it will never get to 100% but around the 75% in 5 years should be possible.

as for the time it takes to get the DLA, they have sent me a email saying they hope to process the claim within 8 weeks, but if it takes 3 or 6 months then I don't mind as all the money is backdated.

All the car dealers I have spoken to have said that the higher rate of DLA must be for 12 month at least, not the 3 years.

and I use to get DLA at the higher rate years ago, I signed off sick and went back to work when I was not supposed too, that why I have now got my problems, also DLA is for people with disabillitys and is payable if they work or don't work.

you forgot to mention one thing, where are the company profits going whilst your claiming benifits as if you get them the will deduct that from housing benifits without a dobut, it has on the forms are you a director in a company or it used to.

How are you getting round that ?

At the moment the company does not make any profits, any profit which last year was 75% is re-invested back into the company, because I am a employee I can take a wage, but when I sign off sick this wage will stop.

I am replacing myself with another employee, so the company will have to pay him, my wage will go that way.

In the future when I can work, I will sign off sick and go back to taking a wage, but the company will never really make a profit.

When the company does show a profit all of this will be used to buy assets or other businesses, I quite fancy cafes and these will be dropped into my Sips pension fund, this way I do not have to pay corperation tax and if they make money then that money is also tax free.

I am allowed to take money out of the sips pension fund at certain times.

a lot of people seem to think that I am a scrounger, but I have paid well into the system and I am allowed to make all of these claims, the same way that I am sure all of them who call me a scrounger are or have claimed child benefit or will get a state pension.

Just had a phone call from the DLA confirming my disability, they are now writing to the surgeon to confirm and providing he confirms that he is operating next week then the claim will be processed in a few weeks.

and ford can provide a automatic c max in days, they have plenty in stock, no modifications needed.

Even I am surprised at the speed they have gone about it, I was expecting to go down the appeals procedure, the women from the DLA even said I should have claimed last year, they won't backdate it though.
