Though I'd do a bit of maintenance this afternoon. I removed the in tank s/s filter on the Boxxer, gave it a good swill and towel down - then couldn't get it back in!

Looking at the parton the HM site, the threaded black holder is part of the filter, but I can't get it to budge out of the white collar that it's screwed into.
Looks like I might have to replace the filter, unless I can get the mesh body back into the black holder somehow - but either way I'm going to need to get that part out if the tank.
Anybody have any tips n tricks to get it out???

Ash when I bought my TM that same filter was screwed in so tight I could not budge it.

There is a large nut shape next to the thread, I measured that and made a large spanner cut out of plywood! it worked like a charm. I still have it but I dont put it in so tight to need it now.

I just measured the ply, its cut to exactly 70 mm

Its half inch ply, obviouly to thin wont have the strengh needed.

Craig, is that only for cleaning the filter? I'm guessing that if you wanted to change it, you'd have to seperate the white part from the filter?

Can you take a closer pic? I assumed it was the same filter so you might want to check the 70mm I said, we need Glynn.

When you get it off, use stainless steal self tapping screws (with pilot hole) gluing it won’t be any good

That would be for cleaning it or replacing it, as the plastic threaded part is not meant to come off the stainless steel mesh part.

Once you got the thread out do as Len says to fix.

Funny enough Garry, my first reaction was to think about an oil filter wrench - these are a similar idea, just not sure how strong they'd be.

I had the same problem when I had my Boxxer I found that with some pliers I unscrewed the plastic part then greased the thread when replacing it, the filter I squeezed back on.

Or maybe one you can use a socket wrench with like this

i had the same problem, and glued it back in after buying a spare.

You could glue it together using Sikaflex, then liberally grease the threads before screwing it back in, and only hand tight.
