you need to research the going rate for your area and aim around that to start with.  in my area the rate is £2.50 per square metre for re sanded block but other areas can command a lot more. the best way to work it out i think is to set yourself an hourly rate. you will with experience be able to estimate the time a job will take and apply your hourly rate. say 40 to 60 pounds an hour. often the small area jobs take a disproportionate ammount of time once you take travelling ,setup , tear down times so factor these into your calculations.

Also take into consideration cleaning up after yourself after you have completed the job. Some people just dont realise, you might do an half an hour job. But it will take you a good 20 mins to wash everything down that you have splashed.

Its funny that you ask Arthur.
I gave him my revised contract to mull over, he was happy with the terms and conditions. We were supposed to sit down this Monday and and start the contract this week.
I bought a new van and set it up so we have two vehicles on the go.
But unfortunately the guy had a stroke on saturday evening, so everything has been put on hold.
But the poor man is in a bad way and everything has been cancelled until further notice.
But fingers crossed.

That's not so good then, i'm sure all will work out ok with the contract and  your client will make a speedy recovery

I work in a similar way to ged, priceing by the hour keeping in mind a sensible rate per m2 and adjusting the two.

Last year I cleaned 800 m2 of concrete flag stones ( comunal courtyard). Priced at £620. 2 days local  work plus fuel at £10 per day. Clearly chargeing by the m2 would be inepropriate (asuming say £2. per m2 £1600)

The job was priced on day rate. 16 reasnably easy hours including set up take down and clearing away £300 per day not to be sniffed at. Conversly did a small job in november around 30m2 priced at £100 job done and packed away in 1.5 hours, customer delighted.

The point of this post is mearly do not stick to any one method medarly adjust the price so you are chargeing fairly whilst making a good profit.
