Website hits

For those who keep an eye on Analytics data - how man visits do you expect your site to be getting?

Just to keep it easy to compare for example - how many did your site have in September?

Mine had 130 unique visitors, but I have no idea if that's low or average?

Be good to know what the norm is to see what may need tweaking.

Thanks

Depends on a few different factors Ash. Like the area you cover, what postion you are on google, if you do other website marketing not just seo etc etc

Bounce rate on the other hand is different.

As for traffic counters, you should try GetClicky. Much more accurate than google Analytics.

Richard, I'm not sure and can't check cos the Mrs is on the laptop at the moment - but I'd guess around 10-15?
I'll get the rest of the data like Mike has posted when I get back on there.

Tony, when you say Getclicky is more accurate, do you mean that google misses hits, or in a different way?

I'm spending about £150/month on adwords at the moment, which accounts for a large portion of my hits.

GetClicky is highly regarded as one of the best analytic tools.

Alot of others including google analytic count bot hits too i.e. search engine spiders.

Sort of - I had a mobile site built at the very end (hence the spike, I'm assuming).

That's October to date - still running on 0% Bounce rate - and in August it was just 0.69%, so I suppose at least people are engaging with the site to a certain extent.

What is the site that you are talking about GEO or Local? If it is the first one than 130 visits is not very impressive. However, if it is a local one, then you do a very good job.

Ash,

I'm with Tony on this. There are decent third party free and paid tools.

This might sound funny but Google Analytics code can sometimes appear to detach itself from a page (particularly with Wordpress). It might be worth re installing your code and seeing the effect.

Zero percent bounce rate is the Holy Grail for Webmasters but it's unlikely that even you are that popular!  ;D

For a locally based site (in mostly beautiful countryside), fifteen jobs is pretty impressive

Carpet Dawg, i've just seen your post and thought i'd give get clicky a go. I've registered and put my site in then it gives me a red code and says paste this into your website to begin using, where do I put this? I don't have a clue. I'm ok at basic stuff but things like this boggle me!

Any help would be appreciated.

Neil,

Have a look at the top (black) navigation at GetClicky.

Click on "Apps & Plugins"

Yours is WORDPRESS.

Click on that and it will give you instructions.

You'll need to go in to your site's dashboard and click on "Appearance" . "Editor"

On the right hand side there will be a list of "pages".

You need "footer.php"

You code should be pasted just before the closing body tag (     </body>   )

Depending on your theme, you may need to add a bit more (it will be in your instructions)

Yes, what Gary said.

If you dont feel confident enough with going in to the editor then you can download the plugin and put the code that Getclicky has given you in to that. The views should be coming in straight away.

Yeah, the 0% bounce rate doesn't seem right. Or the pageviews. Not sure what could be causing it.
