Smelly feet?????
« on: October 11, 2012, 08:28:42 pm »
Hi Guys,

A friend of my Wife, lives in a rented property. She asked the landlord to arrange to have the carpets cleaned, they sent there normal co. Cut a long story short, they over wetted it, weeks later it still stinks like smelly feet. The agent came to take a look and said the smell is from her Husband's smelly feet!!!!!! The CCr came back, left a load of chemicals in four glasses (her glasses) and told her to spray them over the carpet!

Any way, I'm going to take a look, but I would like the technical reasons for this whiff, I have a rough idea but want to be certain.

All help appreciated.

PS I'm going tomorrow

Cheers

Justin

If its a musty smell most likey mildew.

use anti microbal like prochem microsan or cleansan. dont over wet as this has caused the problem, also might not have been ventalated well enough after cleaning.

I would spray on the sanitiser then just suck with the wand so product is left to do its work, dry asap by opening windows ect, and/or fans

smelly feet BS

Carpets need proper cleaning and vacuuming after regular intervals. Baking soda is well known for removing odors. It’s easy to use and very effective for removing odors from carpeting. Vinegar can be applied to the carpet. It can be sprayed on the surface or you can blot it on with a soft cloth. There are carpet odor neutralizing solutions based on enzymes available in market, you can use them. Enzymes attack natural odor causing substances and literally eat them up. By this the smelly feet odor can be removed from the root and once the enzymes have dried, they can be vacuumed up or lightly scrubbed out from your carpet, leaving the area odor free.

Max if it was very wet when the guy left the first time and the carpet is not very dense in the pile ,then perhaps the underlay has got wet (am assuming it has got underlay ) rubber underlay can really chuck up when it has got wet and can smell like fish .The carpet may be dry but underneath it may not be .I would look under the carpet and check it out mate .
