I have one of these in my van and its very good, you can track live or just record and view the map of everywhere they've been that day

ive got an I-GotU gps logger. if you dont need realtime tracking they are great. Use it for leaflet delivery, its very small, light, waterproof and has a really really good battery life. I paid circa £50 for it and you can plug it into your computer and it opens up the route in google maps. Worth a look.

There is a jogging/walking app called Strava, that will do it, but won't be live. Could get them to update it every hour or two. It's free!

Hi Jamie

I got the idea from a window cleaner who uses them. The concern is that is you pay a company to deliver your leaflets you have no idea if they have been delivered. With a GPS logger you can at least verify the route taken and see how long it has taken them. It has adjustable settings but can record as often as every second someones position and I think it is accurite within a couple of meters.

I placed an ad on gumtree for a distributor and to test the pricing I went in at £35 per 1000. I had a few replies which I am following up on. Realistically the going rate is closer to £45 per 1000 and im sure there would be a lot more applicants at that rate.

The chap who I got the idea from has a few distributors and rather than paying by the 1000 he pays £6 per hour. He has had the same distributors for over a year now, they work when they want and do as many hours as they want. They upload the files from the logger and email them to him, he verifys the time spent delivering and then pays them.

If you can get someone else to share the drop with (which is my plan), you can charge say £30 per 1000 and then the cost for yours to be delivered is only around £15 per 1000.

I hope that is of some help.
Greg

I do not know what type of houses you deliver to but in my experience it is hard to get more than 100 houses an hour but as I have said on other strings  some delivery companies look for sporty types who jog.

I have tried 3 different companies now, all rubbish, the cheap one that charge £20 per 1000 send your leaflets with 4 or 5, just a waste of money.  :( Pay £35 per 1000 and it could be the same. I bit the bullet at pay £7 per hour, I get at least 10 / 12 calls per 3000 leaflets. Hope this helps.

Do you get them from gumtree or else where and do you treat them as self-employed or employed?

Has anyone tried getting a couple of other trades to share distribution with them.
Get a double sided A4 folded.
I did this with a local hotel, insurance broker and a florist.

So far we have had 10 quotes and 4 jobs. It was done back in Easter. I have found people can keep things like this for a year or more.

The flyer was for floor restoration works.
