companies who buy small debts ???
« on: October 07, 2012, 11:45:23 pm »
Anyone used a company like this ????
Normally i dont let bad payers bother me
as il ask em for money in shops , pubs
wherever i see em , as most people on here know
im certainly not backwards at coming forwards
iv even had heated exchanges with people over
their window cleaning payments and a couple of scuffles with
mouthy husbands etc , its just a few people who are
really beginning to annoy me re their lack of payment
i dont chase really as im a believer in il eventually get paid
but as said a few are beginning to get my back up
plz dont say write it off iv been in this game nigh on 30yrs
and av in occasions wrote debt off , but not these ones lol

Send a final notice letter to them stating pay up or you will pass on to debt collectors and or take the matter to court. Give them 14 days on the letter (make sure the letter is addressed to them ! )

Then on the envelope write in red marker - FINAL DEMAND and no name... then stick it through the neighbours letterbox and walk away with a smile.

Done this twice... once for £25 and the other for £32 - funily enough i recieved payment on day 10 for one and Day 14 for the other ;D

how much money are we talking gav?sometimes its just not worth the hassle and time chasing them up after 3 or 4 months.i just accept that sometimes i have to write debts off.last year it was about £75.not much really in the great scheme of things!i spent more than that on saturday night taking my girlfriend out for a slap up meal!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

obviously if its hundreds of pounds then a formal letter threatening legal action should do the trick whether its enforcable or not!

ian lancaster has a good letter if you look through his backposts! ;) ;D ;D

oh and dump!and never go back once paid!!i guess you know this already anyway gav!! ;) :) :)

best wishes

Thanks Dazmond,  save hunting, here it is again: obviously you need to edit to suit ;D

Thursday 31th December 2009
Dear Ms ,

Re: Window Cleaning Services at
Following your original request for window cleaning services at the above address, you accepted our offer of service on a regular six monthly basis at a price of £30 per visit.  We cleaned them initially on the 24th of April 2009, for which payment was subsequently received.

Our second visit in accordance with the contract was on the 22nd October and our invoice was submitted to Norman Road as required.

No payment has been received and three telephone requests for payment have been ignored.

We must now insist on full payment within 14 days of the above date.  The sum required is the invoice total of £30 plus a late payment additional charge of £10 to cover our costs in chasing this debt.

If we do not receive a cheque in the sum of £40 by Friday the 15th January 2010 we will take one of the following actions:

1.     We may apply to the Small Claims Court, this action will incur additional costs, and we have access to expert legal assistance via the Federation of Small Businesses which could involve further costs to be borne by you.

2.    We may sell the debt to a professional debt collection agency.  This will involve you in considerable extra expense.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Lancaster
Director: Ian Lancaster Window Cleaner Ltd.
