Neighbour of a customer stopped me today and asked me to give him a price for fascia sofitts and gutters for his detached 3/4 bed house.

Modern estate type with no gutters on sides but white cladding going up to roof apex.

Quoted £120 and his reply was "bit steep that aint it"

so I asked had he ever done the job

No was his reply

Well its a ball ache of a job I told him and a killer on the arms and shoulders.

Fair enough then ... when can you book me in for ??

Some people think nothing of paying £60-70 . to a heating engineer for a boiler service which takes 30 mins ,

But quote them £70 upwards for a gutter clean and they think you are trying to rip them off , I have struggled to get as many gutter jobs this year as people think i am to expensive , Mike

I do both and the difference is you  dont need a calibrated analyser at £600 to clean cladding or attend college every five years at a cost of £2000 plus time off to renew your tickets.
The net profit on cleaning is much higher. The customer perceives the engineer as better value for money as he thinks he could clean it himself.

Good point mate . Only trouble is most people who turn you down wont ever get round to getting them cleaned .

Or they will ask you again a year later and expect the price to be the same but the gutters are twice as dirty, Mike

well expensive prob only take ya 45 mins id of charged £65 dont know how yous get away with charging them prices piece of cake washing plastic with wfp gutter easy use coke can cut top off fits nicely in gutters !!!!!

45 mins to clean all sides of 4 bed detached house , cleaning fascia guttering and soffit including cleaning splashed windows , Mike

im with you ian , i only do em if ive banged in a really good price , as you say hard work , and i hate em , i tell the custy i can do custy that for the time an water used i can clean 6 or 7 houses at 10 or 12 quid a time , hence the price , i dont get many but the ones i do get are decent ,even then i wish i had said no

Did a 4 bed with gutter 4 sides and apex front and side also facia and gutters to lower roof over entrance and garage also did conservatory roof and frames garage door £150 .
Did job got paid Tuesday cleaned windows wife answers door when are you finishing job me what do you mean you have not done window frames upstairs ,
You did not ask for window frames I would have cleaned them if included after wasting 10 mins explaining she offered £ 20 to renovate 6 windows so I accepted .

me too, i hate doing fascia soffis gutter cleans. i dont mind conny roofs though!

"get away with it" as you say because thats what I want for working on a job like this.

I hate them too, when trad and now with the pole, both ways does my neck in, rather just do the windows and go.

Lol no wonder the jobs are drying up for you at £70+ to clean the gutters!?!?
I charge £10-£25 on standard 3 bed semi depending how bad they are and 90% of the time I get the job. Takes me anywhere from 10-30mins which can't be bad.
