I wanted to elaberate on my husbands comment we were cold called by combined carpet cleaning with a cheap deal to clean any 2 of my carpets. as soon as he got in the door the price jumped to £500 ? Me and my husband were more than shocked we just wanted this 'professional' clean for our 1 year old carpets we were priced on the phone.the technician was very pushy dropping the price by 50% twice then calling the manager 'ROB' who called me a time waster. at this point i asked the technician to leave and he demanded i gave him money for his inconvience.? please dont be conned in to letting these people in your house.

Thanks for the info, I was called yesterday by this firm who started with the offer of two carpets for £8.99 and then when I was sceptical of the motive, they offered 5 carpets for £21.95. I thought it was too good to be true so I looked them up on the internet and found your comments.
Hope not too many other people are caught!

I wasn't called by this firm, but I bought a special deal on Living Social (an online service like Groupon, where Combined Cleaning Services also have an offer). Two carpets cleaned for £19. Their operative tried the 'bait and switch' tactic - as demonstrated on Watchdog with another local carpet cleaning company. He told me the 'maintenance clean' I had bought would not clean the carpets, and tried to get me to buy an upgrade. I declined. His work has made my carpets look dreadful. Their phone number is 01202 522254.

Just been called by this 'local' company but as don't have carpets, declined the offer. Then after had put phone down, thought maybe my parents could use the offer so did 1471 to call them back but number withheld! Strange I thought for a company trying to get business to do that. Anyhow, googled and thought best check out if anyone thinks their work is any good and lo and behold I came across this thread! Turns out they are not local, or not in my understanding of the word at least! And their work is not well regarded. Good job they did withhold their phone no otherwise I may well have called them back and regretted it! Phew!

I was put in touch with this firm by Groupon who had the same offer - 2 carpets for £19. I fell for the 'bait and switch' tactic - the technician initially offered a quote for over £90 for a deep clean, which he reduced to £75. The work was really shoddy; furniture not moved (when he said it would be), stains left in. I complained to the manager and got the guy to re-do the work (only a bit better -he still didn't move all the furniture in the rooms). Eventually paid £55 for the 'deep clean'. I've complained to Groupon. Just read watchdog report on Enterprise carpets and feel very stupid! Don't use this company.

If you think something is too good to be true, then it usually is. I have just had them round and the offer of 2 carpets cleaned for £19 suddenly jumped to £250 as he said they needed more than a surface clean which was what I had booked. I asked why this was not explained to me over the phone and was told the people in the office were not technicians like him. They also got the appointment time wrong and when I complained I was asked if I was having a bad day! I usually check out offers like this on the internet before booking, unfortunately I did not do so on this occasion. He clearly was not pleased when I refused to have the work done.

Thanks so much for your very helpful comments, you have saved me from a similar fate. I recently bought a Groupon voucher for a £24 offer with Combined Cleaning Services 01202 522254, they were due to come today but cancelled as the technician is ill. Meanwhile I spoke to a friend who told me to check out its not a skam as someone she knows was also caught out. I have since spoken with Groupon who have given me a credit. They were most concerned as I relayed many messages from this board.
Thanks again.

Thanks for everyones warnings on this board. My Mother-in-law was cold called and agreed to a £19 for 2 carpets deal (she is 81 and now lives on her own). Fortunately her "E.S.P." kicked in and she called me to ask whether she had done the right thing. Firstly she belongs to the telephone preference service so should never have been cold called. Secondly I found this message board and told her to cancel. Fortunately she got through on their number and cancelled. Now she has received an appointment card through the post confirming a new appointment that she did not make and their phone line is constantly engaged. She is terrified that strangers are going to call at the house. I have emailed the firm on her behalf and told them not to come anywhere near her ever again as trading standards, the telephone preference service and BBC watchdog are all on my calling list. Hopefully they will leave her alone. Everyone - please pass the word along. P.s. took the Vax over there this weekend and gave her house a good wash through. Am exhausted - of course she didn't think her carpets needed washing until they cold-called her LOL
Google search does not come up with carpet cleaning so they are phone scamming rather than doing genuine adwords or page rank.
What a bunch of pillocks and seems they are hitting loads of people :
