Mistaken identity!
« on: September 27, 2012, 07:29:46 pm »
Several years ago i had a phone call from a large estate agency/letting agency/property management chain saying that i had cleaned carpets for them before and that they had some more work for me.
I certainly had never worked for them before and had never even been to the town where their main office is based.
I replied that i would be over the next day to pick up the keys.

The worst that could happen i reasoned was they might say "who are you?" and tell me to f off.
When i walked in the lady in the lettings dept. gave me a big smile and greeted me like an old friend! and handed me the keys! Didnt even ask for a price!

To date i have done over 150 carpet cleaning jobs for them.Nearly always the complete property to.
Result!

Anything like that ever happened to you?

andrew.

Are you sure you weren't suffering from amnesia?

What a fantastic result though!

I got a call from a lady who shall remain nameless - but she is a former soap star and is on TV in another programme at the moment.

She said I'd worked for her in the past and could I come round and do her suite and several carpets.

I went round knowing full well that I'd never set foot on her house before, got there and was greeted like a long lost friend.

I have worked for her 3 times since and do her suite now every 6 months.

I also once had a phone call from a bloke shouting that i had cleaned his carpet the day before and had in his words
"F****d it"!
I felt a few beads of sweat brake out on my forehead.
When i asked for his name and address i realised he had got the wrong company!
phew!

I cleaned a care home Wednesday night. I got the call from the owner a few week ago saying the quote I had given was ok and to come and do the job. I said I hadn't quoted at the care home, her reply was 'I have your card here and you came round last week to give a quote'. Anyway I went round and she did have my card, I don't know how, and a quote from a company with a similar name (I saw the price quoted).

I turned the charm on :-) and offered a quote, funnily I came in £10 under what she had already been quoted and I now have them signed up to a maintenance plan paid monthly :-)

I've had people argue the toss over the phone with me that I was the one with an agreement to clean on a specific date/time and they want to cancel that appointment.
And then they have the fooking cheeck to say "If it's not you, do you know who it is and what their telephone number is?"  >:(
