TM exhaust running thru floor of van?
« on: September 24, 2012, 01:53:12 pm »
Does anyone have their TM exhaust running thru the bottom of the van? I'm thinking of doing this on my boxer 318. The only thing is my machine sits on the water tank. Is it possible?  Thanks
Luke

Hi Luke, yes it is possible.  You would need to get some marine grade exhaust hose and attach to the exhaust outlet at the front of the machine or similar.   Why do you want it going through the van floor?

I cut a hole in the van floor and used flexible steel exhaust to pipe it through, but my machine is diesel so smokes a bit..... I found I was leaving black soot marks on people's drive.

i had a hole made in floor run exhaust through the floor , directly from my machine ,burner exhaust through roof, yes soot can be left , i simply place a peice of ply board under exhaust when parked , never a problem

Hi Luc

Mine goes out through the floor but as I run LPG there is no issue with soot.

Cheers

The simplest way is as described above... a 90 degree bend strapped to the exhaust pipe at the front of the unit, then a hole cut through and straight down.

However this is not possible on a Transit because there's a sodding great steel girder runs under the van's floor right where you would need to cut through!

im thinking about doing it just so i can maybe push the side door shut a little bit, stop all the rain from pouring in when it chucks it down, and also so i dont have to breath in the exhuast fumes whenever im by the machine.
Does having the exhaust thru the floor make it a bit quieter?

not at all all ours are throw the floor and all of ours sit on warter tanks , never had a problem with black marks being left on the floor with mine , only thing a would do next time round is have the waste doing the same thing as well

If its air cooled your CAN NOT close the door.

Ive mine thru the floor to make it quieter and point the fumes away from the house and people walking past.

Hydramaster did it.

Only con is when the cut off for the waste tank fails to work and dirty water comes thru the blower onto the drive.

All that heat going to waste!

So you can now claim to be the only carpet cleaner in the UK with an "undercarriage chimney" ;D

Jim I have more heat than I can deal with, I use a huge  (3ft 20inch dia') silencer to stop back pressure, it's mounted under the van to save space, you cannot see it
