hi all, is there anybody out there who could give me some useful info, i am thinking of setting up carpet cleaning, oven cleaning etc etc etc, i have a full time job at the moment but can quite easily work around it as i work in sales and choose me own hours , sometimes working from home,,,i plan to have leaflets printed and delivered,advertise in my local press, and use free ads,....now,what i really need to know is, once i get a couple of jobs, would it be feasable to hire my equipment first  until  i get on my feet presuming i do ok.. also plan to steam clean and valet cars. thanks, any help on this would be really be appreciated. gazza.

Yes you can hire the equipment, but the first question would be what experience do you have in the fields you plan to go into, or have you just have your carpets cleaned at home and thought that looks easy money i'll give that a go! : (cos it aint easy!!)

How exactly are carpets more tricky than valeting cars properly? There is a major difference between valeting cars and washing them.

hi tim, yes i do, i really want to start out with the steam cleaning, ovens, tiled floors/walls etc, i mentioned carpets and car valeting because i wanted to add that later after looking at a suitable training course... i understand starting part time will be harder...working around the security of my present job,..but its the only way i can do this at present..can you please advice me on the best stesm cleaner to use,with all the attachments,and if possible to hire.thanks, gazza.

True enough, but then its also much easier to blow out all the electrics, which run in looms directly beneath the [oops Edit] Cars [/oops Edit]carpets.

I started like u gazza, no experiance at all and started in House cleaning,carpet cleaning, oven cleaning, window cleaning, patio cleaning , 2 years ago, and i am doing just fine, its tiring work but a doddle. I went on a carpet cleaning course at the NCCA for the basics all the rest you pick up as you go along, I never had the use of this web site then, I think it would have been a lot easier if I had. good luck Phil

Sorry I missed the word "cars" out of my previous post, which changes the context of the post - my mistake.

There is no easy way in to any business, yes no cleaning business is brain surgery, but you can cause far more costly damage to a £20,000+ car than you ever can to £2000+ worth of carpets. (yes i know some carpets cost more...wanna pay for a ferrari respray?)
Motor trade insurance will set you back £900 +  for minimal cover - if you move the custies car without it you are uninsured .

It's not to put you off in anyway shape or form, just properly informing you of the pitfalls.

ok thanks will do later,off for curry night... i did say carpet upholstery and car valeting would come later, do you think its a feasable idea to start up with the steam tile clean and oven clean etc by hiring to begin with, ...? i know car valeting is not easy work and requires a lot more than people think and i wasnt trying to imply that, i just thought that may come at a later date .after starting up in the way i described above. what do you think, cheers
