Treated some old urine stains on a very very expensive,imported from India dining room carpet on Friday.
Customer had used some other product on it prior to me having a go,even though i continually tell her not to,have been working for her for the last 8 years now and she is a good customer in a huge great big house,so want to try and keep her happy.
There were 3 or 4 small patches, which i treated,she called me this morning at 8am  saying it's much worse and loads of bleaching,which i am assuming was whatever she used,as the yellow stain was still present,have i not left it to dwell long enough ?
Used it yesterday with great results on a pale woollen carpet with fake tan stains and removed all of it

Dye Gone is hit and miss at best. This is one reason why we are reluctant in the extreme to deal with stains like this on expensive items, especially when they have been tampered with as you're not actually dealing with a urine stain, it's a urine stain + whatever product / s the client has put on it which makes it chemically different to urine. In short, I wouldn't have touched it, especially with something as strong as Dye Gone which could have reacted adversely to whatever the urine stain has now become..

Yeah aware of that,I did inform her of limited results, but she was adamant that I did the best I could, but turns out it now looks worse than it did, gotta have another go at it on Friday.
Will get some pics on Friday, it's a very deep pile carpet, so may be a case of a Stanley knife and sticking a bit that she has spare in.
I get a lot of work from her, so just wanted to keep her sweet really, knew I should have said no, but knowing Lady Patricha, she prob would have got someone else in

The problem is that a situation like this can ruin your relationship with a customer as they see you as the reason the stain has got worse and if you come across the wrong person they could be into you for a new carpet which is why we avoid these situations. Sometimes it's better just to treat with with something mild and tell them you've given it your best shot and not risk making it worse by going to extreme measures simply because you are trying to keep them sweet.

No better than the result I got I think, I know what she is like with her bloody urine stuff, her house is fitted with thousands of pounds worth of carpets and since she inherited the stupid little mut , each and every room has urine stains in, all treated with whatever it is she uses.
Brings tears to my eyes, don't really know what to expect until I see it on Friday, but she has asked me to clean the entire room to try and get it to match the bleached areas, not prepared to do that, just going to have another look at the urine stains possibly try the ye gone again with longer dwell time and possibly a hot iron to speed it up a bit, it was the first time I used it and was possibly a little bit over cautious with the dwell time, so will leave it longer this time, not got anything to lose really now. well apart from a customer who pays me a lot of money on a regular basis...

your missing my point mark, if she'd called someone else in they would of either said, "i aint touching that" in which case you would still be number one. or they would of had a go and not got a result in which case you would still be number one, or they would be trying all sorts and making a mess in which case you would be still number one.

dog pee stains that have bleached a carpet yellow are to be avoided at all times. i leave them to the have ago hero's now, and then say i told you so, making me look good.

Hi Guys

I believe Dye Gone is hydrogen peroxide accelerated with ammonia.

This is going to be a non selective bleach., i.e it will lighten/remove all dyes.

Personally I would only use very selectively and not on urine stains which I think you will find will be brightened to a paler yellow.

The carpet the stain is on is more or less white, sort of dirty ish white, think the damage was caused by the product she used prior to me having a crack, like I said she was adamant that I had a go, I did also tell her that there was probably nothing I could do to make it any better, due to her using something else and the fact that it had been there for a few days before she did anything about it.
But she insisted I tried, so I did, she has vip's around for dinner on Sat, so up against it really.
And when I say vip's she mixes with royalty

Pretty much, don't see him very often, i clean for them once a week, he just shows up and gives me a fat cheque every 4 or 5 months

You're aware Dye Gone is 35% hydrogen peroxide, a bleach?!!  Sounds like you've overcooked it.

Although I've not got any scientific testing/facts to prove it, my own experiences tell me that if someone has already assaulted the stain with vanish or similar it screws up stain removal with oxidisers/reducing agents.

Did a job recently where a dog had gone all over the place on a 100% wool carpet and the only bit that didn't respond at all to either oxidising or reducing was the bit they'd baptised in 1001.  Removed the rest completely with HP

Was eerring on the side of caution though Neil and only gave it a couple of mins dwell time, possibly didn't leave it long enough, was the first time I used the product, didn't really get a noticeable improvement, but yeah she uses this spray on sheeite from a pet shop, all her carpets are covered in bleach patches from where little joey has had accidents

Never known anything like it Clinton, flipping dog has more clothes than me, because he came from Hong Kong, she has to keep him wrapped up because he might catch cold !!
There are plug in things in most of the rooms which pump out anti anxiety stuff for it.
Probably eats better than me also, gets called Joseph when he is naughty.
The local vets see him at least once or twice a month, never known anything like it.
She even flew her maid over here from Hong Kong to look after him, as her and her husband are both jet setting all over the place, well he lives in china  as that is where the uni is that he is master of...Crazy
