Truckmount Question
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:44:08 pm »
What do most people set there temperature at when using there truckmount Chemtex says the Panther 20 should be set at max but if i put it to max the engine cuts out after about 20mins when i put it  to 180-200 it works fine and the water is still roasting just curious. Cheers Darren

Darren the thermostate will normally cut out around 220, so set it to 200 then it will dump and not cut out. If you put it to the max then it will cut out on you, unless you can keep the water moving. If you get fed up with the machine i will take it off you for a grand  :D

In all my years of carpet cleaning i found that running the machine at temps of 180 - 200 is more than enough to clean 99% of carpets.  I do find it strange how the chemtex machines cut out if set at max temps though.  Every other truckmount i have used or know of dumps at the high temp set and the cold water that enters is enough to prevent cut out.

Hows the machine other than that Darren?

Are you faffing about moving stuff etc You really need to set things up so when you start up you can just go balls out. Save fuel too.  ;)

How often do you descale?
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Just thought it a bit odd when Chemtex say run it at full heat and it cuts out Wynne ive only had it 3 weeks so dont no the last time its been descaled and how do you descale staying in Scotland we have the softest water in the UK TDS is 038 so will i still have to descale.Richie the Truckmount is brilliant and never thought i say this but i hate having to get the Powerflight out already.

Darren you most certanly dont need to descale up here ,had a prochem machaine if you run too long on the higher heat it cut out and it took ages to restart , it was always better working on 180/200.  Then when very rarely did I have to up to 250 ,sold it couple years ago as in Edinburgh it was a pain getting park access, had to go back to portables , climax for bigger jobs

We've got soft water here too, but I had a problem when I first had my TM as the scale build up in the system where it had come from (Herts).

Darren
The panthers got a safety feature in that if the water gets to hot in the header tank it will kill the engine.
If your cleaning large areas of carpet and you need max temp leave it on max, otherwise in normal domestic situation turn the temp down to 190 ish and when doing upholstery you may need to set it even lower.
Mine does the same thing, it doesn't need descaling, it's just how they are. Nothing to worry about.
They are a fantastic machine  :D

Hi Darren. I know what you mean.  Many have said they never thought they would say the dred getting the porty out :)  Glad your getting used to the truckmount.  As its your first one i am impressed with how quickly you got used to it.

As Chris R has said, the machine does not need de-scaling.  When i fitted the machine for you there was NO evidence of hard water deposits / scale build up.  Its just the way Chemtex have the system set up.

Yep the chemtexs do this, mine has a thermostat adjustment control on the back so i can adjust the cut out temp. Check to see if you have one and turn it up a touch.

Yes you were lucky Darren.  I wa surprised at how clean and good condition the machine was in. You can tell it has been looked after.

Mossy.....where is the control at the back of the machine?
