Had a call today from a lady wanting a quote for carpet cleaning.
She says"give me your cheapest possible price as im on benefits"
I just quoted her my normal price.
She didnt sound like someone who was perhaps newly redundant but more like someone for who benefits are a way of life.
The way i look at it is why should i give her a discount as i am already contributing to paying for her anyway.
Too harsh?
Judgemental?
What do you reckon?
By the way she didnt book.

Like I do everytime I buy something, the best yet was getting £130knocked off a landrover,,,, and right down to saving 5p in the local shop! I even had 2quid knocked off a pressure pump spray.

Cant blame her really, but pribably one of those that whatever price you gave, she wouldnt be happy.

I had a girl ask me the other week, quote for staircase & 2bedrooms.... Said she already had a quote for £40. So I told her I couldnt beat that price!

I know that anyone can be made redundant or go out of business,especially in the current climate,
but the people who make benefits a way of life get on my nerves.
Especially when many of us will be working to 70 to pay for them!

I heard a new one recently. This lady really knows how to play the system.

Someone fairly local was reported to social services for neglecting her four children (lying in old beds and cots in their own excrement). Social services responded by giving her new beds, clothing, washing machine etc.

A customer told me yesterday that she was at a jewelry party that she attended and was spending large amounts of money.

When asked how she could afford it she said she had been diagnosed as a manic depressive and compulsive spender. This meant social services wrote off her debts on a regular basis (she was openly bragging about it).

She is now being paid to "counsel" other "sufferers".

You could not make it up could you?

When I was in my teens/ early twenties (1950s/1960s) if you had not got at least six months contributions on you ticket you got NOTHING. If you left your job you got NOTHING for 6 months (made you think a bit!) then you got a pittance.
Why the hell should I pay my taxes to keep idle bl++__ s+ds in fAgs and ale???

I wish I could have 6 months in Downing Street- the so & sos would not know what hit them.

Personally (and this will upset a lot of you) I don't think there should be any child benefit, nor should someone who has a bun in the oven immediately  get a council flat.  I think it's cruelty to make benefits more attractive than working.

In the 50's it was very sad that girls that got up the duff where either coerced into having an abortion or giving their baby away,how terrible. And of course we had a thing called SHAME back then. Of course today there is no shame and spreading your legs is a career option.

On the other side of the coin my mates sister got made redundant 6 months ago from her hospital job.
She refuses to sign on and is living off her savings until she finds another job.
Personally i think she is mad as she has worked fulltime for the last 30 years and is entitled to help.
But she is too proud.

i am aware of your current health problems through some of your previous posts.
I hope i have not caused any offence with my post .
The benefit claimants i am referring to are the people who would never work and do not seek to.
I was not referring to people who cannot work due to genuine ill health.

I have other income and some of the above , but it was a struggle while i waited for the red tape.



Although I do  AGREE  EVEN SINGLE Mums could probably fit a few hours cleaning once child reaches five. But they would still be entitled to Tax Credits
