I think there was some postings about them.

Now going to search to see what you Guys have said in the past about them

It appears no one had a Good word to say?

Although I did not find them offensive, as some have said, but although I said No I have left door open while I checked with you guys.

There are no guarantees of a top listing however, so I'm told...and google adwords are good for the likes of a carpet cleaning site...but not for online stores...as it tends to cost too much due to browsers..thousands of them!! as I found out.

scott,
have you looked on the general cleaning issues section of this site?
theres a guy on there giving a lot of advice at the moment

also another good way to get yourself listed is, go to 123reg or simualer and buy a domain name that is gona be what most people search for like (carpetcleaning and then your area) for instance i have www.carpetcleaningessex.com and www.carpetcleaningessex.co.uk it dosent cost a lot to do this and you than redirect that adress to your site for free.

This is basically all iv done to promote my site and i get half decent listings with a few search engines.

type in carpet cleaning essex in a few sites and you should find me on the first page of a good few

Hi,

In the beginning we found a very nice web designer who optomised our site for free.  We are at the top of google in terms of google local, but also feature on a number of other search engines at or near the top of page 1.

I know that he is now selling web sites specifically designed and optimised for Carpet cleaners.  They have pretty much the same format as our web site and we are seeing a good return.  More specifically, and just last night i collected a cheque for £300 for cleaning three rugs.  This lead was generated by our web site.
There are many other examples of leads we have from our site, but i wont bore you with them.
My main issue with web designers is that they are quick to take your money and slow in offering support.  We had to sack one before we found our current designer and i am pleased to report that we have had no problems with him.  Hes a decent guy and carries my personal recommedation.

His site : www.capitalcarpetcare.co.uk
Our site : www.accesscleaningsolutions.co.uk
His sites for sale : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4434726453&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

The value in this speaks for itself, we have made the cost back more than a few times.

Hope this helps

Graeme

Hi Guys,

The trouble with a lot of rankings is that it is relatively easy to get near the top of the minor players but it's hard to get Google and Aol which are the biggest players.

This is carpetcleaning essex on Google

My site is top of the searches , the sponsored sites come and go , if you want to get rid of them just click on them a few times ;)

So be careful when people claim to be near the top .

Cheers

Doug,

Not sure what you mean, just click on them a few times.

Goggle seams to be dominated by directories hence my question about Ufindus.

My site is still Underdevelopment and although we have it on some search engines we have not tried to improve the rankings

So are you saying its possible to get rid of Ufindus etc

Ian,

The sponsored sites pay for the privelege , once their money has ben used up they go.

I'm above the directories ;)

Searched sites are always there.

hi scott,
i just checked my site and your right im not listed well if at all with google.
i have just checked a few other search engines though and im,

no1 with msn
no3 with yahoo
no3 with alta vista

considering the time and effort iv put in to it (very little) and the fact it has cost me hardly anything and the fact i havent got a clue what im doing, i dont think its to bad.

do your rankings change if you alter the text or pictures on your site?

i was
1st with msn
3rd with yahoo
3rd with alta vista

but i had a play about with my site and changed some text and pictures last night

and today im
3rd with msn
not on the first page of yahoo or alta vista ???

im forever changing things on my site, is this affecting my positioning?
should i just leave it alone?

YES!

if you make a change, you should leave it for about a month to see what effect that has had, before you either go about rectifying that change ;) or streamlining something else.
