will not pay?
« on: August 14, 2012, 07:50:13 pm »
what would you do if someone refused to pay for a fascia clean?
they got my leaflet which says on it if you're not happy with the clean we will come back and reclean, been today and cleaned them and left payment slip that says if you're not happy with the clean call us on 0000000000. they phoned up saying they are not paying becouse the windows are dirty (they have a window cleaner and did not want them cleaned but i did not leave them dirty) but sum drips had dripped after i had left on the top window. when i got back there at 6 they did not want me to clean the glass and told me they had cleaned all the doors and windows(they phone me up at 5:30) and offerd me £20 ;D ;D they are happy with the facsia clean but not happy with the mess i left, which i whent back to clean ??? but they did not want cleaning ??? there was no one in when i was there.

I do not want to get a bad name for my business but dont want to let people get away with stuff like this :-\

do i just move on and let them have the money or take them to small claims court.
thanks b

They're trying it on. To be honest I always add the price of the windows onto this type of work but tell the customer that I will clean them for free as they will get dirty anyway. No way would I accept the windows being dirty as an excuse not to pay. If they're happy with the initial job then tough titty pay up

just been on my voicemail and she left a message's at 5.25,5.27 and 5.29
1st hi i have just come home and you have left my windows dirty and dirt on the sills can you call me.
2nd can you call me.
3rd i am not paying you becouse you have left my windows dirty and my mum is going to have to come to clean them ???
i was in the dentist at 5.30 so left the phone in the van, but called her back at 5.43 and got to her at 6.
the massage's are proof that all that was up with the job was the runs on the glass and abit of dirt on the sills. ;D ;D ;D

Forget em but if u want to make a point take their 20 wipe ur ass with it and throw on the floor in front of em and if u still feeling upset dip a wet brush into flower bed and re apply dirt u removed. Or just shoot them and be done.

Dont accept the £20,  if anything comes from this you would have accepted payment no matter how much it is

it depends bradley.  i can see why it is winding you up.  to be honest they are people who will go through life doing this  to businesses that they deal with week in week out.

you can choose to just right it off, and that is possibly the best route if you can stomach it or you can choose the small claims court.  it depends how much you are owed if this is worthwhile.

i have done both options.  i found with one i sent them a solicitors letter, costs about £3, and they paid up quickly.  Another guy owes me £450 for work done and i havent got anywhere yet with him.  will send him warning of small claims next.

for me its a learning curve to try to manage my emotional response to people like this...  i;m still learning a lot.  the thing to remember is that people like this do not like themselves and that is why they do this type of thing.  just thank god that you are not like them

send them a letter detailing conversations, price, problem, what you did to resolve, their offer and that you have records of voicemails / texts.

follow up with something like you have done all possible to resolve the issue and that of payment is not recieved within 14 days you will claim through the claims court where they will have to attend or pass the debt onto a debt collection agency who will visit their home to recover the outstandig debt plus charges

make sure you send this recorded delivery as you will have proof you sent the letter.

make it clear the date you will pass on to court / collection agency and state that if payment is recieved prior to this dat

i have done this in the past and recieved payment on day 14

Bradley, in your original post you say she already has a window cleaner. In a subsequent post you say that she says she will have to get her mum to clean them. I am wondering which statement is true, if either is.

If it is the former, ask yourself why she hasn't asked her window cleaner to clean the fascias. If it is the latter, ask why she hasn't got one.

Both scenarios tell me she is a wrong'un. If I were in your situation I would offer to check the offending windows and clean them for free if she pays in full for the fascia clean. If she baulks on this, walk away and put it down to experience.

I have good sleep and i am just going to phone her up and tell her about the massage's she left saying there a bit dirty, and see of she is going to pay or do we have to go to money claim online?
Its not the money that i am not happy about so i dont mind paying for claim. all of my work come's for leaflets with price's on so i dont see the job or person before i do it and i can not let them think they can do this to people.
I would love to go back and put mud on the fascia's and give her some s$%t but not letting her get to me.
Am thinking when i get workers out there is going to be unhappy customers and if they wont pay for a bit of dirt on the window and wont let you reclean it what can you do ???
Thanks B

Sorry to hear that mate.

I always tell them it makes the windows dirty so advise to clean them aswell.

I havnt had any problems yet.
Shes defo extracting the urine,if you have offered to clean window and shes refused tell her you want the money fullstop.
If she refuses then getting any grudge back by damage to her property isnt the way forward.
Put a claim in with a company, dont let this sort get you down mate.

I think she's taking the pee so I'd definitely 'test the water' and do a letter saying you'll take it further (even if you don't).
Then focus on all your good customers and the quality work you do for them and how pleased they are with your service.
And then have another cuppa.
Good luck
Pete
