The way it's always been done produces the same results. What's easier to use, a pair of pliers and just bend the channel or using a hacksaw and then a pair of pliers?

Sorry Lee, but why make something more complicated when it's simple. You're not thinking about becoming a politician are you?
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

No, not really. It's all about more pressure on the corners of the squeegee removing more soap and so less detailing. How much more pressure will bending the corners of a squeegee in create?
You'd be better off using a detailing squeegee. A 6" one to cut the corners and then use your normal squeegee.
Basic physics, really.
