Hi, I clean with WFP, a mate of mine is thinking of changing to WFP from trad but is worried about that fact he has a slight hernia. I'm cant comment as I find it easier than trad cleaning. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with stretching etc. sorry bit of a strange question but thought it was worth an ask. Cheers

When I made the switch it was my neck that felt the brunt, looking up all day.
Best bet is to take him along with you and give him a go.

Advice I would give anyone starting out WFP is do the first window right handed - the second left handed third - right handed 4th left etc... or vice versa depending on which hand you favour.
It is really awkward to start with but gets easier - balancing the load helps a lot.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll take him out and let him work for the day while I watch, might just hit him with a stick if he slows up! That should test him :-)

Its your arms that get a work out the most not your gut.
Great advice earlier let him have a go on yours.

Why not get the hernia sorted? The earlier the better

I think he is on the list to get it sorted. Just wanted to see if anyone else had one in the past and has problems with using WFP. Thanks

Some basic principles.
Get the best (lightest) pole you can afford and use the right pole for the job (not a 32ft pole for a bungalow).
Stand as far back from the cleaning face as possible.
Try and let your legs do the work - walk back and fore and not up and down with your arms.
Good footwear is a must.
Keep fit and healthy.
And, as previously, change sides regularly.
