Well ive decided to get a new pole, im usually a die hard harris pole fan and theyve had their place with me for years now, but got a lot more work now and i cant reach alot of my work, i can add sections to my harris but to be honest its a faff.

This will be for an every day pole.

Ive been looking at a clx22, would be ideal height for me with most of my work, and i could use my supalite 60, for anything higher, but then i started looking a bit more as most of the time i find it a faff getting my supalite for the odd window here and there. Is it worth spending more and getting a slx25, same weight as the clx22 and higher...or maybe even slx30? Or would you not reccomend that all day use? Maybe 30ft is over kill for an everyday'er

How easy is it to add sections to the slx to? Can you keep adding till 35ft? Do the supamax sections then fit it?

Probably doesnt but will any of my supalite sections fit it? Could make my supalite redundant and no more messing about.

I use a clx 27 for my every day pole but I think I'll
Get me hand in me pOcker soon and get an slx25
Just because it's lighter and more rigid.

I used harris poles for ages and got fed up with the clamps.  I bought a CL-X22 and it's great for everyday.  I can do Ground, 1st and 2nd storey windows with it with ease.

The pole stop tape has come unstuck and jammed up the sections a few times (annoying), along with the odd clamp coming unglued etc, so don't expect it to be 100% problem free, but overall it's much much better than using a harris!

22ft is a great size for everyday domestic poles and used to be my most used pole (replaced with a Xtreme25). However if you are trying to prevent getting out the SL modular pole as much then perhaps a SLX25 would be more suitable as it is that extra reach which will allow you to reach third story dormer windows. I would hesitate to go any bigger for a pole that you want to use on everything as you will reduce the benefits of having a lighter pole.

As to adding sections all of our poles use the same tubing and clamp architecture so adding section is always easy. If you did buy an SLX25 then you could add a Section 6 from an SLX30, or a section 6 & 7 from and SLX35, or a 6, 7 & 8 from a Super-Max40 and on it goes.

My personal favourite is the superlite dual trim flocked brush standard splay.

Glides over the windows and works great on leaded. Not as good at rinsing on the glass as a non flocked brush, but I prefer to rinse off the glass anyway.

My second choice at height is the superlite extreme standard (white bristles) but you have to be more gentle on leaded windows. I see Gardiners have a superlite extreme mixed medium brush which sounds very interesting.

Its difficult to advise what you should go for - the old saying applies "what is one man's meat is anothers poison." I think Alex once said that brush choice was a 'very personal thing'.

My son and I have  different choices of brushes on our poles - he prefers his old superlite dual trim splayed brush. My Son in Law loves another manufacturer's brush that I personally dislike.

sorry to jump on this thread alex but thought i'd ask you as the person on the phone wasent too sure.  i have the super lite extreme 25 with the 5ft extension.  I want to add on the next 5ft extension making it a 35 ft pole, but when i rang up the office they were'nt too sure whether i'd have to buy both 5ft extensions again to add onto the 25ft.  Therefore making my 5ft extension that i already own completely redundant, and end up paying over £200 just to go 5ft higher.  Is this really the case or can i just order the 5ft extension (to take it from 30ft -35ft) from your spare pole section?  many thanks

As much as i like the 22 clx , the 25 slx coupled with the dt flocked original brush is the best all rounder i have used.

dont waste your money on anything else.

Hi matt you want a slx 22 budy. i have an slx 18 and a clx 27 for taller work the 18 isnt quite long enuff for 3 story work so i had a slx 22 but sold it to dad and he finds he can reach most with that. clx poles dont have the ragidity like the slx and in my opinion no where near as good come and have a look at mine if you want mat will help you make a decision

sorry to jump on this thread alex but thought i'd ask you as the person on the phone wasent too sure.  i have the super lite extreme 25 with the 5ft extension.  I want to add on the next 5ft extension making it a 35 ft pole, but when i rang up the office they were'nt too sure whether i'd have to buy both 5ft extensions again to add onto the 25ft.  Therefore making my 5ft extension that i already own completely redundant, and end up paying over £200 just to go 5ft higher.  Is this really the case or can i just order the 5ft extension (to take it from 30ft -35ft) from your spare pole section?  many thanks

 Ideally to extend your Xtreme25 to 35ft whilst keeping it as a full Xtreme pole you would need to buy the Xtreme35 extension two-section module. However as you already have the standard (and much cheaper) 5ft extension what you can do is to add another 5ft section to this. You will need to buy the No.7 base section from an SLX35 and add this to your other extension. Not as light or as rigid as the Xtreme35 extension pack, but a lot cheaper and fine for occasional work.

CLX-22 for everyday use is as close to perfect as you are going to get. Lets face it they are not dear, virtually disposable items these days.

If you want a longer pole for occasional use get something a good bit longer and be done with it.

A longer pole for everyday use is not good just so you can do that 'one a week' window that couldn't be reached with a 22

OK the SLX is better but how much better do you need? If the OP has been using a Harris pole the a CLZ-22 is going to feel like he has died and gone to heaven.

without a doubt the SLX 25ft POLE for everyday domestics,3 storey,small/medium commercial.the rigidity is very good and you wont have to faff around with another pole just to clean that awkward velux/3 storey window.

i have a CLX 22ft AND ITS A GOOD BUDGET POLE!but its not in the same league an an SLX both in weight and rigidity.

ill be hammering both these poles until their falling apart then ill invest in a 25ft extreme methinks!

i use the sill brushes with carbon goosenecks, both the soft and medium trim depending on the job.i have a white extreme on my 40ft supermax.i also have the standard dt supalite flocked and mono brushes.they all have their place although the flocked supalite is ready for the bin as its well worn now!

if you have the money i would get the 25ft SLX.you wont be disappointed!!
