Water fed pumps
« on: July 27, 2012, 08:12:15 pm »
Evening chaps,

I'm setting up a water fed system again and need to source a pump, I had a shurflo before but is there alternatives that are just as good.

I'd be happy to buy a second hand one if anyone is selling one.

Cheers,

Gordon

I have found flojet to be more reliable than sureflo (only a small sample of pumps of course).  I thought sureflo refused to guarantee their pumps for WFP but flojet do.  Could be wrong.

Sureflo  ? you mean shurflo  ;)

I've got one of these as my second pump, it's a cracking little thing for the price. (although I got mine from red hat diving on ebay, not this seller..)

Have had 100PSI shurflo and Varistream for about 4,5 years now, still working okay. Pretty sure Flojet works well too, as if I recall correctly Alex Gardiner has used them for years.

Ive seen a few pumps like that Fanthorpe, I was not sure if 35psi would be strong enough?

A 35 psi pump is enough to clean up to 40 ft and thats without running the pump flat out. Mike

Aye, this little pump is MORE than powerful enough for one person, not quite good enough for two though.

Low power drain too, good for batteries. (can't remember the actual 'draw' but my mate measured it against my shurflo and it was lower..)

I've had two of those pumps. They were the one supplied with Gardiners trolleys.

They're fine with 10m or 20m of half inch hose but with microbore, they struggle and are very noisy in use.

For the price, and if you don't mind the noise and the slower rinse rate, they are good value for money.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

my experience has been totally different to that,  I've been running one with 100 m microbore for a couple of years now with no problems at all..
true it is noisy but it is definitely more than powerful enough for one person....
maybe this pump isn't the exact one,  like i say,  mine's from red hat diving,  looks just like this one though and similar price.
