If you won the lotto.....
« on: July 25, 2012, 09:21:01 pm »
I was thinking about this today with all of the advertisments about the 100 uk millionaires on friday night.

Its a nice food for thought isn't it?

£1m is nowhere near enough to retire for me...35yrs old so 30 working years left @ 40kp/a =£1.2m

And thats without the new house, car, holidays & gifts...

Carry on as normal for me...

A million? I'd deffo pack in - prolly give the biz to my eldest daughter and Son in Law.

I reckon that if I'm lucky enough to live another 20 years in reasonable health then even if I blow a couple of hundred grand on "nice things" along the way then the remaining 800k would give me 40K a year and there would be some interest on top of that.

Just think of the nerdy hobbies I could get into!  ;D

I think I'd buy a narrowboat and even live on it if I could get Mrs Gold to agree.
It's a game of three halves!

I`m actually quite sure that winning the lottery could be very distressing at times.

if i won a million id buy a new van and maybe a hot system all professionally fitted.get rid of my SLX and supermax and just use extreme poles.

then i would just choose my cream work, sell off the rest and just work 2-3 days a week to give me a prudent income.

i would also buy myself a modest house in a nice area paid for in cash with a few outbuildings.

get rid of my ford cougar and buy a ferrari, holiday home in portugal or south of france.

build a studio at back of my house with full drum kit, guitars,PA etc and recording equipment.turn one of my outbuildings into an art studio with oilpaints and airbrushes etc.

build a bar into my house with state of the art coffee machines and juicing facilities(no alcohol!),jukebox and lap dancing poles for all the very *friendly* gorgeous women/dancers id be hiring for the night!!

turn a room into a mini-cinema with pop corn machine!

join a very posh gym with full sauna, pool and steam room facilities.

errrr.........yes im getting a bit carried away but this is what i would do with a million!!

cant sleep due to the heat so dreaming about the lotto on here is passing the time until im ready to go back to bed!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think I would invest a good lump of it in property and rent them out which would probably give a better return than leaving it in the bank.

Why not??
If you invest it all correctly you will get 5% or more interest whilst leaving the lump sum intact..

ie 40k per year interest and still have your mil....

I'd probably be found covered in vomit, wearing defecated trousers, and dead; stinking of whisky - on my very own private island, surrounded by Russian ladies of the night, by a big wheelbarrow full of cocaine.

Sounds like great fun.  Is the draw this Friday?
