Have you tried undoing the clamp bolt on the new section as this may be what is catching on the section?
You need to contact alex but i have read on here that you need to rub the base section of the pole down with a real fine paper as all base sections have a coating on.Paul

Whilst sanding off may work it would not usually be needed. Ultimately it may be best if I have the pole and extensions back and I can see where the problem lies. Alternatively it may need a replacement handle section. Drop me an email on alex@agardiner.co.uk and we can see how to get this sorted for you.
