Hi Gary,
I charge £3.50 sq/m,which includes pre vac,pre spray,agitate,extracting,napping,
also the price takes into account the initial survey.
It would take me in excess of 45 minutes just to vacuum the area. :o :o :o

My point exactly. Now I get less jobs but better paid with similar pocketed referals. Much less hassle than chasing around although I admit I did used to enjoy the challenge ;D
well i recon u do do lot chasing around cause u are going to look at these jobs and at them prices must get one in 20  if theres that many mugs out there !! i worked out u are charging about £470 for 3 bed house!! yer right o ::) dont think so somehow 8)
Recently cleaned detatched four bedroom house including hsl and lounge and restretching hall carpet to fit grippers snug, couple of minor paint spots on stairs. Protected the whole lot after cleaning and dried it all off. 30 year old pale blue wilton. Fitted in 1974. Never been cleaned before. Loads of wool coming off with raking and so on (real top quality). Spent the whole day there and built up a good rapport with the client. Well over £600 - client has already booked me for next year.
Took me a long time to justify these prices to myself but the fact is I'm not holding the clients purse strings. I dont do the hard sell. I dont look for extra's. Unless they're really persistent, I turn down tips. (yes even at these rates). I present the client with all relevant information and allow them time to reach a decision. 8 out of 10 enquiries become jobs.

Try it! Honest, ever since i put my prices up (in some cases 3 fold) even past clients are coming back for more! No con just top quality work.

I've also heard of a guy who's nickname is 'fluffy walker'. He charges £9 !!! per M sq. He is officially the highest charging carpet cleaner in the country. I think he's one of alltech's fasttrackers.

hi there,

Alan

totally agree, sell sell sell, there are too many posts on here at the moment, talking cheap and discount.

if the cleaning industry was such an easy, unskilled job then either everyone would be doing it, or everyone would be cleaning there own carpets, suites, houses, offieces etc.

many people come in to this industy and then leave quickly, its either a love or hate career path.

so why not charge premium price for a premium service.

regards

martin

Great idea, wish id done it. One question though; Do your customers think your portables in your van is a genuine truck mount, and do they ever look? One guy in my area is advertising that he uses a truck mount just like on c4s how clean is your house, but looking at the narrowish trailer he has, i don't think it is.
Waiting to find out though
