Starting a carpet cleaning business has always been easy. Its the ones who have other things attached to it that stay in business ie. other cleaning, carpet supply, repairs, fitting, cleaning product sales, office cleaning, window cleaning etc.Just getting a decent living out of carpet cleaning is quite hard in my view as it's on the whole unskilled work and anyone can get started & involved.

I don't agree with that. All of the most successful people I know of in the business are specialist carpet cleaners who have dedicated themselves to becoming successful at it.Simon
I find that new people on the forum that come in with these type of questions are normaly the ones that are struggling but just make their point a bit more ballsy so we think they have been going a while and have some real experience. Once their real name comes to light, they are either a troll, sudiname or newby. Which are you Terry?
But you probably only associate yourself with those types of 'specialist' carpet cleaner's so wouldn't know the wider picture. Saying that, noone really knows, maybe a poll on this would be good? Wider picture? Rubbish, mate. The people that feel they have to spread themselves far and wide in order to make their business work are the ones that really don't understand what this business is all about.Simon
