Part-time job?
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:39:57 am »
Just applied for a part-time job, 3 evenings a week. Will hand my notice in if successful.

Thinking behind it is that it will pay enough to cover my bills but also allow me time to canvass and clean work when I get it.

Anyone else get a part-time job when starting out to help with finances?

Seems the best way to me as I have no time with my full-time job to do anything atm!

Yep; I did some weekend and evening security work.  The money was peanuts (so they got a monkey), but it helped pay the bills.  I also humped some mailbags for Royal Mail, but only lasted two nights doing that; it was pretty soul destroying stuff.

I kept away from the Somalis and stuck with the Middle Eastern guys; they seemed the safest.

I got one since being full time on the windows  :o. Only warehouse work but it's regular and not that badly paid for that sort of work. It breaks up the week, too. There are drawbacks but I think I need the discipline because I don't really treat the windows like a business.
It also give me an option if I decide I've had enough on the glass.

i worked full time in a call centre 1-9pm and windows 9-11am for about 6 months.  then gradually cut back to 5-9 in the call centre and then 6 months later i am just a window cleaner.  it takes time but its totally worth it

Yeah, from August I'm going from from fulltime office work, to working part time in the office. Freeing up two days per week to canvass and clean windows.

I've already done a few bits of canvassing whilst driving home from work, and picked up 7 customers. So far so good :)
