Website Videos
« on: June 25, 2012, 12:37:55 pm »
some may know that I'm due to have a big operation in Sept the recovery time can be up to 3months,  but hopefully I will be back in action a lot sooner..... but the docs warned my it could be 3 months to be able to perform light duties..... a year until fully recovered

for 4 weeks i will be house bound unable to walk unaided.

so 2 things....

 1) I'm going to be skint :-\  although my wife works I will still need to bring some money in

2) i will be bored out of my head, laid up, not being able to get out the house.

I have a massive library of carpet cleaning videos, do you think there is a demand for videos to be put onto websites, would people pay for them?

this is just one idea i have to bring in a bit of cash.... what do you think?

What you having done Mike?
Wife had her knee done 2 weeks ago to the day.
She's bored out of her skull already.
Driving me crackers too, am inventing work in my
diary just to get out of her way.

Are the videos tutorials? If so I would be interested.

both hip joints replaced.

if you look at my website you will see example of the sort of thing I'm suggesting, but they will be more professional and each one will be  specific to the company with their own logos and opening pictures and details.

i'm  not suggesting they will be of Spielberg quality but for a carpet cleaners website they would work, i could open a specific YouTube account for each buyer and they could either just put a link to it or load it onto their website

How about selling ebooks this;   http://howtoreallybuyaproperty.co.uk/index.php

Or http://www.how-to-get-a-girlfriend.com/ebook.html

It's all online work, you can buy ebooks with reseller rights. I've seen ebboks for sale at £99 which can be bought from a wholesale ebook sellers with master resale rights for £5. Some Mark up. Or there is a website where you can hook up with people who you can commission to write you an ebook. Just make them sign something to give you copywrite.

But it's not easy, it takes a lot of work and research to really make some money.

Best of luck Mike,i myself have been laid up the last 8 months, not nice ! Like John i'd be interested in Tutorial type material, have been looking for quite a while and there isn't alot out there.Could be a good opportunity to tap into that market if you had the ways and means,no doubt you have the knowledge.
You may have noticed, like everyone else on these forums that new entrants to the industry, like myself, have the equipment, the drive, have taken advantage of training courses but haven't seen alot of what they have heard on these courses put into practice.Tutorial videos covering alot of this at the right price would,in my opinion,be a good money spinner,it would certainly put a stop to some of the 'stupid' questions being asked by newbies, which infuriate some members, for once and for all.I for one would lap up these type of Dvds to assist in my on-going training in all aspects of carpet cleaning.

Mike join the Skint Club :o :o :o :o

You could however Consider running BI Monthly Marketing Seminiars for the new people this Forum Attracts.

The problem I have is it looks like its going to take me longer than I thought also.

If I take down my two DIY Web Sites will I loose track position or is it better just to keep them there.

You asked Yesterday about Web Sites , well I think they do better than we realize

I think most of my rivals realize I  am decommissioned but it is hard to talk openly when operating in a small market

Still looking for ideas for new enterprise.

Although I like the idea of info commercial producer I do not think i have the talent

Craig I looked into this as I used to be in book trade , most are a load of rubbish

I think Amazon will kill this market as their info products sell for about £5 the days of £30 appear to be gone
You have Lee Mcyintyre and John Thornhill was tempted o put in affliate link ;D selling their $900 courses for $5 as a warrior forum special.
In fact Lees new big idea is the info Commercial Website , personally I get bored watching them.  But Hey what do I know these Guys claim to make more than a Fasttracker ;D

Hi Mike

Sorry to hear your problems

Have you considered running marketing courses, there are lots of cc's who are struggling and would benefit.

How successful are these replacements, you might need to look at employing and doing less.

Cheers

I'd be up for the courses via download or cd in the post!

Or put them on a dedicated blog and allow access to the videos via membership (paypal) The videos will be on YouTube but you'll have to mark them as private access only with the video streaming on your blog.

All this can be done on wordpress and a plugin called s2member. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/ Its free.

You can also sell seperate downloads with the same plugin above.

Get it sorted Mike!!

And good luck with the op by the way. Sounds like a big one.

I'm sure the owner of the forum wouldn't mind you promoting the membership site / downloads on here after all the years you've been a mod!  8)

i was told 2 yrs ago that both hips joint were almost without cartilage and were bone rubbing on bone but at the time the only symptoms i had was  difficulty putting on my socks.

then 5 weeks ago overnight  i went from pain free to  being unable to walk more than 5-6 steps. luckily i have a good doctor who put me on a course of  4 different pain killers which has eased the pain .......which was lucky because i was found out there was a 4 month waiting list for hip replacement operations.

to be honest the 4 months has a positive side i have been saving like mad so won't be really skint but it would be nice to have a bit of cash coming in. My son has just left school so started working for me 4 weeks ago, my plan is that as soon as I can drive ( hopefully 6 weeks post op) I will be his chauffeur and he will do the work, it's a pity I can't get him insured to drive the van as he is too young.

i'm looking at alternatives to either earn money or keep my self busy, the videos was one idea another is to teach my self to use Photo-Shop pro.

doug the replacements last 15-20yrs in a OAP leading an easy life, god knows how long they will last me.

Mike do some in house training, you know you can do this quite comfortably and you have a big enough area at your place to teach.

Alltec used to do a course on how to sell at higher prices but never IMO showed you how to do it properly ie audit and combating price objections you would be brilliant at this you only need 10 people at £50 a person.

Mike

The way to go is to have Multiple Income Sources.

So far you got Info Commercials not only for Carpet Cleaning but Indian Resturants

Taxi Firms, Plummers

As your fellow Mods have suggested Training Courses you are ideally placed in the North but to far from South now toll charges have been cut

Plus any other ideas you may have.

JP sells an Audit DVD for about £300 overpriced in my opinion , so you could choose to sell few at that price or lots at £50, I read somewhere you are not allowed to use words Carpet Audit  as JP has trademarked it?
