« on: June 22, 2012, 08:39:06 pm »
As title, if you use a TM, do you prefer 2 or 4 jet wand, and on results which do you feel is better?

Mr B
If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

I find that 4 jets gives a nice even spread of water which allows for better water pickup therefore a drier carpet were 2 jets blasts more spots out bearing in mind that the jet flow equates to the same ie 4 x 015 jets to 2 x 03, if you don't scrub then 2 jet will clean better IMO.

I was once told by Steve Knight to do that and it's brilliant but it did't half drain my clean tank.

i clean with 4 x 03s i needed the extra flow to activate the pressure switch on my burner

but just to complicate the issue i use 2 x  9003 &  2 x 1103 with the 11003 on jet extenders so the jet spread is equal to the 9003

I carry 3 wands. A 12" twin jet with 0.15's in, a 12" twin jet with 0.3's in and a 14" twin jet with 0.2's in. I find this gives me a good choice depending on the type of carpet and degree soiling. Must say though, job is always quicker with the twin jet wand with the 0.3's in and the temp is always at 240 as where with smaller jets the temp hovers between 180 and 200.

I'd agree with that Mick 'let it flow' just not too much ;D

I changed my jet setup a while ago and am very happy with it.  I upped my 4-jet wand to '02s. giving a total flow rate of '08

I also downed my 2-jet to '02s as well, giving total flow of '04

This means I can run the pressure at 150-250 with the 4-jet wand (12" westpac/2" tube) and still achieve a very good flush without forcing water hard into the carpet.  It works best on wool, or any carpet that isn't heavily soiled.  Today I used it on a 100% wool carpet and with doors/windows open plus an air mover in the room it was touch dry before I left.

The twin jet with 2x '02 jets is fantastic for mingers, used at 400-500psi.  It doesn't use any more water than using '03 jets in the wand at lower pressures but gives unbelievable results and still very good drying times. It's a 1.5" porty wand (12" wide PMF-802) and I often think I should get a similar one with 2" tubing but it's not really a problem so spend my equipment budget on other things instead!

does it matter how much water you put on the carpet as long as you have the power to remove it? most vacuums don't know the difference betreen picking up 2 lts or 4lts , they will  easily have the power to remove the amount of solution 4 x 03 jet will deposit on the carpet.

Although i can see why a portable user will not want big jets as would  mean more re-filling.
