Help Pre-Van System Instulation
« on: June 19, 2012, 09:18:24 pm »
I have finally bought a new van and need some advice on what to do before fitting a system.
I've got a Peugeot Expert HDi 2009 1000kg and looking at fitting a 500L tank etc.

The previous owner had rear seats fitted and there are various holes in the van floor
What is best to fill these or do i just leave them alone before applying protectakote?

All of the van is ply lined apart form the roof as i'm looking at keeping this van for at least 5 years
and to prevent pipes freezing is it worth insulating with loft type insulation behind the ply-wood and also doing this to the roof?

The van currently has a ply-wood bulk head, should i remove this for a metal one?

All advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Luke  :)

The holes inthe floor i would leave as is, if they are neat drilled holes. They could come in handy for drainage if you have any spills. If you really don't want the holes there, maybe worrying about ingress of road dirt in the wet etc...them i would just put nut and bolts and big washers in them.
Ply bulkhead should be fine as you are going to fit your tank securley?
I personally wouldn't bother with that loft insulation type stuff in a van. I'd be more concerned about it harbouring any damp, moisture. There's very thin (5/10mm) stuf on the market now made out of what looks like tin foil and a nylon type sponge stuff that looks a lot better, and is more efficient. Its expensive though.

I would scim over the holes with water proof filler and paint off them tbh, as these will become rut spots if you dont! as pure water loves to eat metal., you could also as said use as drain holes but I would be proecting this as the metal will have been scored which means rust can and will set in right there so made to fit piping and fill over and paint.

If you want to fill the holes use rubber grommets of the correct size

I spilt some water in my van last night - pulled the curtains back this morning and the vans gone  ???

Eaten by pure water.
