What a load of rubbish this is. I hate it,.. big companies like Ionics should be looking for genuine ways to improve their tools & benefit industry - pathetic marketing scams like this "parts per billion" tripe really get on my nerves.
For the record, should anyone from ionics read this, I did a bit of maths, and to get my 300tds tap water down from 1 part per million to 1 part per billion requires the removal of an extra 0.3% of dissolved solids - so its 0.3% better NOT 1000x better.
I expect the filters are more costly though,.. and the PPB testing meters will register a TDS increase sooner than the PPM ones, so I'm sure consumables will cost more in the long run too.
