got the new catalogue today and I have to say that system looks very impressive. I especialy like the fact its full automatic in terms of salt backwash and membrane flushing, I have to do this every day on our static and it takes half an hour and is a right pain.

In a couple of years our static will need to be replaced and I plan to get this new system then. the water is a thousand times more pure than 000ppm and I think that that combined with hot also will give very good and consistent results, where you would still get some spotting now.

Good on them for pushing and advancing the technology we use.

So what does it do that an ordinary and much cheaper RO unit and resin fails to do?

IMO the best way to get good results is using a good technique - scrubbing and rinsing appropriately to clean the window.

I really do not see how using tds 000,000,000 over tds 000,000 will give any better results, just a large capital expenditure and higher running costs.

As for an automatic system, my 40-40 is completely automatic, it cuts in when water is drawn from the IBC, flushes for 15 minutes every 8 hours of running time and switches off when the IBC is full again.  There's no 'salt backwashing' because there's no salt - in the 5 years I've had it there's been no need - input tds 350, output 004 - 006.  Membrane lasts 2-3 years at least and costs £200-ish to replace.  Prefilters (2) from Gaps cost about £15 a set and I change every 6 months.

Why complicate things?

What a load of rubbish this is. I hate it,.. big companies like Ionics should be looking for genuine ways to improve their tools & benefit industry - pathetic marketing scams like this "parts per billion" tripe really get on my nerves.

For the record, should anyone from ionics read this, I did a bit of maths, and to get my 300tds tap water down from 1 part per million to 1 part per billion requires the removal of an extra 0.3% of dissolved solids - so its 0.3% better NOT 1000x better.

I expect the filters are more costly though,.. and the PPB testing meters will register a TDS increase sooner than the PPM ones, so I'm sure consumables will cost more in the long run too.

I wonder what the need is for ppb system when you can clean windows to a perfect finish with up to 10 ppm? {with a high flow rate imo}. I do think that Ionic systems are generally excellent by the way, so not knocking them , just can't see the need for ppb.

this could in effect have a negative effect on ionics sales for example- does this now mean that they wont be supplying spares (inferior replacement filters, and resin) now for there old systems the ones you all bought that produce 0ppm as they rekon it isnt good enough now. or will they continue in effect admitting that the new system is no better at 0ppb than 0ppm. so if the older 0ppm systems are good enough why would you buy the zero with higher initial outlay and running costs. logic and inteligence defies the theory.

and now there admitting they oversold the previous system to the faithful will they upgrade you for free to this spec as it wasent ever good enough or fit for the intended purpose lol.

you cant have your cake and eat it can you. lol i find it quite funny a company of this scale would waste so much money in other areas like research and development of the wrong products (remember the pro 10) the guy that came up with this will be in trouble when this again flops. why seems to me if they have so much money to waste they can afford to lower there prices a little.

if you were to buy this its like admitting you have been wrong for the last ten years and you have never been good enough similar to what your wife will say to you sometime in the near future as your mind is clouded and you are in denial lol

I really dont see the point of spending thousands on an ionic system . A mate of mine knows another windy with an ionics system and when he has probs with it he has not been able to work .

And neither has he been able to fix it because it is a complicated system and he has no idea were to start and has to sit at home and wait for some one to turn up and fix it .  MIKE

In defence of ionics , I brought a system from there pure2o sister company .
Same tank and frame crash tested utilities with a standard 4040 hf5 simple set up , well made much much cheaper and they price match brodex etc .
Customer service excellent , poles not so great I think that's where they should spend there money to improve .
