Solutions do a POG and having tried it side-by-side with Chemspec's and  is as good IMO.

  so i'd say solutions pog is a d-Limonene based solution and chemspecs is various petroleum distillates ...  both will work im sure
I mostly use good ol' white spirit POG   :)  i know it would have worked well on the sticky tape the OP mentions .

I found this online chemical sales site , selling most of the popular constituents of popular carpet cleaning products ...  perhaps not wholesale prices , but you could save or make your own desired strength products  ..

I know most people couldn't be bothered  :D

I think of chemspec as being like a sleeping St Bernard dog laying there snoozing, content in himself,  the other companies are like little, annoying terriers.....running around yapping thier heads off, trying to get attention.

Quality will always rise to the top, it does'nt need gimmicks or skulduggery  

here here and that the best ever coment ive seen on this fourm , 100 % chemspec FTW
