I have a job i'm going to next week. Carpets and upholstery.

The client has just emailed me to ask I can clean the blinds in his bedroom. I have never attepted to clean these before.

Is it possible to clean them using HWE and a CFR hand tool too good effect?? Also what chems should i use.

I would usually say no to blinds but fancy giving it a go.

what kind are they   roller   austrian    roman?
if they are roller blinds you can only lightly vacuum then carefully wipe with a solvent or prochems fabric restorer
if austrian or roman,they can be taken away and dry cleaned or again vacuum and wipe over with f restorer
the hand method is ok if lightly soiled if really rank dry clean,some are washable but very rare

sorry just noticed you have stated roller blinds,if you do them the way i said ,warn customer that the result is limited,
they can smear if you dont clean evenly also they can start to bubble if you over wet or use too much solvent
i am presuming they are the stiff fabric style ones?

Depends what type of fabric they are.  On some it might be OK but on others you'll possibly find the water out of your hand tool just bounces off and goes all over the place.

Unless they're quite expensive blinds I'd probably charge more than replacement cost so don't do many, which suits me

My wife answered this one...........put the blind in a bath ( after dusting ) with a little bleach.."....rinse after about half an hour and towel dry

this is how we do them, but check with custy they are not black-out blinds as the colour can sometimes bleed..

Most Roller Blinds are Polyester.

Most Manufactures recommend laying them flat and cleaning with a mild detergent.

I have had customers who have put while vertical blinds in a bath with bleach and they were Ok But as a blind retailer I could not recommend this

There are some verticals that can be machine washed I went to a call once when a lady had been told by a salesperson that her blinds were washable so she put them in washing machine as her previous blinds had been machine washable .disaster she compounded this by ironing the blinds complete and utter disaster.

Extracta and Ashbys used to ave a hand tool  for cleaning blinds so it must be possible to clean with HWE. using a mild cleaner.

I did try with an upholstery tool while blinds were hanging but limited results.

A good roller blind is about £100 plus although you get companies on ebay selling  DIY Blind at post manufacture prices like in carpet cleaning devaluing the trade

Made to measure fitted plus calling at house to show samples , some times thinking time collecting endless quotes return to house to close sale and take deposit.

Onces on EBAY are made to measure or cut for you blinds from standard sizes but customer has to measure and fit .

Very dodgy market as customers are thick oops did I say that.
