worked out today after culling all my rounds last year i now need approx 338 customers to have both vans going out doing 200 a day i expect this to take about 12-14 weeks gonna be hard work!!

if your need higher than that to make a profit your pay to much in wages or something is seriously worng, there is clear profit in them figues even if it was a new van with inoics thermo installed on the knock

£200 is no where near enough to run a van, with two employee's and make
a worth while  profit. Try £350- £400

why not just use one van on your own get rid of your office etc and just your business on your own.

Richy.  Although I admire your get up and go, after some of the stuff you've written on here, I fear you may end up damaging your health.  I don't mean your physical health either.  You've already had a taste of this.
Sometimes it's better to accept that some of us just aren't made the same way as these big business guys.
Normally I wouldn't write stuff like this.  I'm not a negative person these days - like I used to be.
I'm writing as someone who was once nearly destroyed by stress (not in the work environment though).
We both know that it's possible to take a sole trader income well above average wage if we put our minds to it - without huge stress either.
If you really must go the medium/big business route, at least get yourself a counsellor/therapist to help you deal with any knock on effects from it.
The results may surprise you.

I think he meant 200 a day one man one van you numpty, how could any on e make a profit of 200 with two men lol
And 300 odd custys in 12 weeks is one hell of a target richy good luck too you, even if you only get half that amount i would be chuffed mate. I am at the same point as you i bought out a local round and had staff but i ended up having to sell most due to my good luck of having skin cancer and having to have quite a bit of time off.

Now i am back and need to get a buisness going again as it made me relise i need a way of making money if i become il again

richy, good on you mate. i canvass every night at the mo with 2 others. we getting 10-20 new customers a night between us. on paper it looks as if you can build up quick but you will have to take your time doing first cleans and weaning out the crap customers. it took me 4 months to build my 2nd round up which i started doing in november and now building the third so it can be done quick, just be ready for headaches.
 My plan was to get 400 £10 front onlys which we got but with the dropout rate and messers it went down quite a bit however with a lot the custies  wanting there backs doing to  it all mounts up to £200-£250 a day each van.
Go for it richy and hit those streets hard.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but the 338 customers you require, is that figure taking into account all the ones who will mess you around by saying they want a regular cleaner, instead of saying they just want their windows cleaned.

Depending on how you will be getting these customers, this will affect the cancellation rate, if I was you I would increase the customer total up to 428, and spread the time to 26 weeks.

Also how are you going to run the vans, are they on a 3,4,5 or 6 day week?

i clean six weekly hence higher numbers needed to fill books

we dont plan to stop there this is just a figure we have worked out i need, we know from canvassing you get cancellations etc but i leaflet drop before canvassing too so we get steady trickle coming in from that and we will be pushing fascias and conny cleans too.

im looking into smaller units at minute and cutting costs where i can

Positive thinking, that's what I Like. Get your 2 vans out every day (one person in each) you won't go wrong

haha helen thats the plan stay positive and push for what we can get shame today tho first day back two miles down road my system battery starts smoking and then my oil cooler on van starts smoking so now lost another days work while i wait for mechanic friend to come take a look

whats so complicated??? i have two vans i have 483 customers at min down from over 1000 last year, im keeping it quite simple aiming for £200 a day each van which should have us both finished by 3 most days so its not physically exhausting.it averages out about 13-15 jobs a day each. im taking my friend on on a self employed basis as he does other types of work, we plan to push other services and try and max out both van eventually until im ready to invest in another van
