12 days a month 9 till 3 How much.
« on: June 06, 2012, 06:27:54 pm »
As per the title.

What would be a fair wage for 12 easy days hot wfp, van/ equipment provided, money in the bank upon completion of worksheets.

Offered this to a lad that started s/employed wc 3 months ago said he desperately needs work. So offered this deal and he said without a hint of sarcasm he would be over the moon as long as I could pay £35 an hour :o

When I asked why he thought that reasonable he said he done a £40 hour the other day ;D

What do you reckon should I take him on ???

If you are providing everything, then he is not self emplyed, he is a employee.

just for clarification
are you supplying everything and he provides the labour?
or is he supplying everything?(van etc)

if the latter yes i would want £35.00 per hour as he is hiring out his business to you

Its the former. I am looking to cut down to part time so offered to let him get in my van, use my gear, do some of my work, and get paid some of the money he so "desperately" needs!

With all due respect bob. (ive benefited from some of your posts) Are you seriously saying you wouldnt entertain doing an easy established wfp day for less than £210 money in the bank at the end of the day?

hi bvc
i think im getting the wrong details here
its your van-yes?
your equipment-yes?
your customers-yes?

so in a sense his being employed by you, would that be right, whether full or part time
if the above is right,i hope it is, he thinks his worth £35.00 an hour?
if thats the case i will come and work for you and sell my business ;D
no ones worth that surely it would be £7/8 per hour

Just to add a little perspective..

I got a mate that fits bespoke kitchens for a company on a sub contract basis. He provides his own vehicle and tools and he gets £20 per hour. I am talking £30k kitchens and if he damages anything he gets it deducted from his invoice. They also only pay monthly.

Last year all the subbys got a letter from the boss say because of the economic climate they will have to take a 15% pay cut from next month. Take it or leave it.

This guy lugs 12ft lengths of solid granite for £17 an hour and he is a craftsman. I only want someone to wave an slx around and spray hot water at some glass.

If you wanted me to clean for you it would cost you £40 per hour for the simple reason, thats what I already earn cleaning windows if it was carpets I would be looking at £60 per hour, why would I want to work for less.

If I was you get someone to work for £10 to £15 an hour, that way you and he make money.

That is a ggod rate for a kitchen fitter I know some get £12 per hour. Provide own tools van etc ... so I reckon a tenner is a decent amount for a bit of window brushing labour only.

Just goes to show he is looking for a sucker 'cos he could build his own run up some more and be self-reliant ... or he's telling porkies and hasn't got any work of his own and just wants easy money.

If I asked Beckham to sub my round I am sure he would for £100k an hour. I am not questioning the fact shiners are worth 20 30 50 100 quid an hour. I am positive alex gardiner wouldn't work for less than £1000 a day.

However, this lad (mid 20s) has been cleaning for 3 months and he really "needs" extra work. Last xmas he was doing 40 hours a week for £200. He has canvassed every other night and only has a day a week. I thought he might have appreciated 12 grand a year in his account.

I call this "wanna be footballer syndrome" Bowling around in Armani tshirts and versace jeans and eating beans on toast for dinner.

I also think with the numerous forums available to research any trade out there these guys think they can come in and command proper money. These lads cant work out why, although they can do 7 keepy uppys they havent been offered a premiership contract for 100k a week.

Good comments, keep em coming ;D

Regards

BVC.

offer him 50 50 of what he makes . gives him incentive to get the work done. i did that when i was first introduced to wc and it works. problem was after the first day i thought that i want 100 per cent and conspired to start on my own . start of a new era for me

BVC I'm sure you could put an advert on the Internet for a full time window cleaner for a lot less than that. Until recently I was getting £355 a week before tax to work from 0700-1730 then sort 3 vans out. Put lads work sheets in vans wash their dirty scrims, change resin. Then take phone calls all day about snapped shoe laces and things like that.
