Ive made a design on microsoft word, but the resolution needs to made bigger/better for my van to be sign written.
Does any know how I can do this?

You should be able to cut and paste into Paint (within windows) and then save as jpeg BUT.....you are going to need something a bit better to sort resolution.  You probably know this but you will need to design from scratch at 300dpi possibly try Microsoft Publisher (i dont know it that well) I use Corel Draw.

A designer will usually want artwork running CMYK, A4 and 300DPI.

You will not be able to achieve this within Word. Not very successfully anyway.

Your best bet is to ask around any family members who are familiar with Photoshop, or even ask the printer if they are able to transfer your design from Word to Photoshop or Corel.

Even maybe as around the forum, I'm sure someone can take 2 minutes to whip up your design!

Thanks for the help guys, ive sent the arkwork to them at 300dpi, and still when they zoom in, its not sharp enough for them to use properlly, so ive had to re-think and design my artwork.(well, for van lettering anyway)

I could resize it  and check how it will print in photoshop but I'm sure if it's in word it will be low res.

How big is the finished sign for your vehicle.  This will be a factor as well as the resolution.

Just a thought......

How big is the finished sign for your vehicle.  This will be a factor as well as the resolution.

when your sizing up from a4 the res doesn't have to be as high as the amount of pixels that create the artwork become larger.

thats probably why he is asking for a 300 dpi A4 (which is still a large file BTW)

Think the issue is that because of the re size the the pixels are too big.......if the image is destined for A1 size at 300dpi....then creating A4 image at 300dpi wouldnt be sufficient to upscale....thats why the destination size is important.  Incidently a resample in Photoshop may be a workaround.  Also a TIFF would be a better format to send as there will be no compression

You want a vector image for graphics done with adobe illustrator or other software package. Jpeg is no good no matter what you do with it. Vector images are scalable can be big as a house if you like no loss in quality.

.......you read my mind!  A vector doesnt depend on destination size so AI would be perfect d'oh   A bitmap would work if you created A4 and your output was A4 then at 300dpi no pixels would be visable however not suitable for resizing more used for photo's.

A vector image is the way forward but a jpeg will be fine if it's the correct size to begin with. I'll take a look at the file and advise you what you need to do

It was created at 90dpi on the original image. I knew it would be being used in word.

It can be created again in Illustrator but the effect you've used on PURE may be tricky to replicate.

Is he printing onto vinyl for him to get an exact replica?

Gutted. Thought that would be the case 

The way forward I think Steve, is to do away with the 3d effect on 'pure' and just get them to add a shadow or something instead. Be alot easyier and cheaper I guess but wont look as good.

Out of curiosity, do you like the design?
