I will describe it, its blue at bottom and yellow at the top, just two swiches vac and pump, no heater will this machine do the job?

im a window cleaner and want to add carpet cleaning as an add on, I will be having some training is ashbys anygood they do a day one for £79.

I have no idea what the power of this machine is either, worried it does not have a heater is this a problem? I will get a better machine when funds permit just thought it might be ok for a first machine.

Any advice?

Dean see if it sprays and sucks then clean a carpet with it and see if the results are acceptable(thats what carpet cleaners do)..........................Alan

Sounds like a Steempro. One switch is for the pump (70psi or 100psi) and the other for the vacuum (1 X 3-stage)

I would check to see that the pump and vacuum both work then also check that the waste recovery tank has no holes in it. I would not worry to much about not having a heater as most domestic properties will let you fill it up with water from the hot tap. You may at a later date find a cheap heat and run for it to create instant hot water.

Does the machine come with hoses and the wand?

it does spray and suck, i cant find a model name on it, but know its a prochem, the colour is different from all machines ive seen online, as its yellow at top but light blue from base, im borrowing it from a cleaning company i do sub contact work for but they said they are willing to sell it to me, i done all my carpets and the results were good, i looked on utube for tips of using extractor machines, I thought it would be good to practice with it, when i emptied the water from back it does dark brown so i know its working good as it had taken up alot of dirt, still a few staines on carpet but they are all a lot lighter now, so i dont think i was using enough chemical, plus i dont have pre spotter, i have this machine for another few days so going to go over the carpets again.

just wish i knew what one it is as have no idea what pump its got and what psi it has, Its got a normal carpet wand, and a stairway hand type one. it has about 20 foot of hose approx give or take.

I can take a picture of it and post it on here if helps?

I am almost sure that these machines were made in this colour for the hire market. It is a Steempro. There was one for sale on Ebay not so long ago.

and where is states pressure its 2.8 BAR im not sure what psi that is as new to all of this.

Yep ... just as i thought, it is a Prochem Steem Pro. I would change the pump for a 135psi. The white brackets on the back are where you fit an inline heater. This machine can easily be made into a more powerfull machine. Twin vac. All you have to do is buy another vacuum motor and the switch and fit them. Relativly easy to do aswell. You will have a good powerfull machine that will run 75ft-100ft of hose if you need it to

can it still be used with the low psi it has as standard? probs take a lot longer to do jobs but I can use it while i'm learning hey?

Yes these machines are ok.  Prochem seem to build relativly good quality and reliable machines.
As for "is it any good"... the machine is as good as the person operating it. To get the best results from any machine I would advise you do a training course and then use the best quality products you can.

The pressure you have on this machine will clean a carpet but will be allot slower than a higher psi machine. You will need to rely more on a good quality prespray aswell. I highly recommend you go for something like Prochem Powerburst as a prespray the an acidic rinse for rinse extracting. If you want to know anything.. please feel free to send me an email with any questions. I have been cleaning carpets for a very long time and have got allot of experience and am not afraid of passing it on to you new guys.

as in by the time i upgrade it I am better off to buy another secondhand one with the above spec? I cant understand why this one as such a low psi, maybe its already been upgraded, I can ask them, the only way I would know is to take it apart, is that an easy job?

Thanks for your advice so far, I am thinking of doing that day course what Ashbys do in Kent as i am in colchester essex so not to far to go, will that training be enough to start with? extractor do one but they are all the way in newcastle.

A quick upgrade is to fit a higher psi pump. It will take you less than 1 hour to fit. Between £60-£100 depending on where you get it from. As I stated earlier... these machines in this colour were intended for the hire market and that is why the psi is lower. If the psi is lower it reduces the risk of causing damage (shrikage) however don not be fooled into thinking you will not shrink a carpet with this machine. The best advice is to get some training or ask a local guy who is experienced to show you the ropes.

Remember... when doing a course you want to learn the basics first to get you going... about the carpet fibres (being able to identify them), the construction of the carpet (how it is put together), about the dyes (how to test for dye bleed... knowing about PH), and the basic cleaning techniques. Be carefull as allot of these companies will try to brain wash you in to buying there machinery and there cleaning chemicals. Thats not why you attend.

Once you have learnt the basics, then gone away and cleaned afew carpets I would look at doing another course to gain more knowledge.

Pretty sure those are specific to HSS in that colour.
