I had a nightclub to clean every week, it was only a tenner, small glass frontage, took 5mins tops.

Well today, running late and we start cleaning, guy comes out and asks us if we can clean the black signs above the windows.... Yeah no probs mate, we.ll do them next week.

He looked at us as if we had just spat at him, and said oh just leave it, leavr the lot. And walked into the club.

Well I followed him in and said do you mean stop cleaning the windows altogether? He said yeah, staff will do it.

This guy has obviously thrown his toys out his pram..... I had pleasure in soaping up the window that I had just cleaned on my way out!

However, its been made up by picling up £38 of new jobs today alone,£25 yesterday and priced a £50 block of student flats!

But after that reaction maybe he shouldve then had a chat and resolved it but i know how it feels as i had a similar experience in a store this morning where i was getting grilled by the assistant manager for not calling when they demand and not cleaning the inside which is full of stuff and when i asked them to move it say "im to busy to move it" so i just walked off

Sometimes window cleaning is good when you can just tell them to do one but sometimes you do have to be a bigger man  if you want to keep your work intact!!

A Good business man would have walked away with his head held high, without the need to soap up the window as it was childish (although I bet it made the OP smile inside  ) it could damge his business, as business men talk, the guy probs was having a bad day, we all have them.
it is only a tenner yes, but lets think if the guy saw him soap the window do you really think hes going to cost the guy more than a tenner, my guess would be yes.
I had a customer today complain (second one today, one was not mine, under customer complaint as a post) I went round to see this guy because he said the windows were all smeared, well I got there and they were totally spotless, he was addiment they were smeared now it was only £16 I could have said sod it, but I took the time to speak with the guy I explained to him that we could not leave smears as he was saying and that I would show him why, I also said I will refund your payment as I do not like to have ill feeling with customers as I like to keep customer happy long term, so I cleaned a bay window and showed him, now he could of had a bad day who knows I don't really care, what I do care about is the image my company gives off to even customers that leave. well I showed him he said sorry to me the smears were the water, he is now happy even if he does not have a regular service he cannot speak badly about our service nor our customer service, now thats worth alot more than the £16 imo, thats what imo a good business man does

for those of you saying it was a good job £10 for 5 mins work, i suppose i should have said a bit more about it?

Yes, it is £10, and Yes it does only take 5mins to CLEAN..... However, it is the only club that we do in the middle of the town, the time taken to normally find a parking space, walk to the job, clean, and walk back.... and THEN we dont get paid till a friday night, Cash Collection, So then again, park up, walk over etc.... I had asked the manager to pay via BACS or send cheque, but he wasnt prepared to do it.

Another aspect, if i was to "bow" down to his needs, then he would of had me where he wanted, and think he could "click" his fingers and i'd be there. No Way, not me... I am self employed so i do not have to answer to such muppets.

Can't you just park outside the club; after all it's only five minutes.

We try to keep our customers happy, within reason, and I think I too would have just cleaned the sign.

It is only a tenner but if you have that attitude with all your customers those tenners will add up
