Paul cant see the pic, but Red is the most volitle dye. Dependant on dye type some will run with just plain water let alone up or done the ph scale. Just go through some chems at different ph,s to stablise it ( low) then your good to clean it after that you can do the dye removal on the bleed areas.

Was it valuable and how big is it?
Because it might be easier to saturate it and then use high ph on it till it starts bleeding again, keep cleaning and rinsing till it runs clear and then dry quick.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Soory didn't check picture came up, we saturated it and it was still running to rinsed out excess dye at high ph and stabilised it with acidic rinse theres still some contamination on the white parts and fingers, normally would go sodium met in small areas just wondered if anyone else had any nice little tricks they might want to share ?

Paul,
It would be worth trying Masterblend magic dye and stain remover. I would do a small test area. Apply it with a small paint brush to the white areas and be patient.
Good luck

Cheer master blend is a brand I never really tried who is the UK stockist?
And Mr Moss I though you were the helpful sort!
Normally would go with a reducer or ammonia and peroxide, just as always interested if someone has a really good recommendation for a different product.

Paul
The UK stockist is the Big Clean in Surrey.

This option is likely to work better than the other options you mention.
Hope this helps

Paul,
Follow the good advice given by Nigel W. ( IT WILL WORK ON THE RED, HAS THE BLUE OR INDIGO BLED?? THIS WILL BE MORE OF A CHALLENGE).
However be prepared to spend several hours plus, carrying out these works. A friend of mine spent 9hrs in total cleaning and stripping colour from a 12x9 rug recently.
What rug is it? size? any more pictures of back of rug including fringe and side cord?
