« on: May 29, 2012, 06:37:12 pm »
I have a prochem blazer gt 2 year old,the small jets on the 4 jet wand are getting blocked
i have undone the jets and cleaned them out,its ok for 5 or 10 mins then they are blocked again
there is no filter on the trigger so thats not helping, ive been told the solution hoses might be corroded
they are only 2 years old and the tm has only done 140 hours!
i dont use it that regular could that be the problem ?anyone had similar aggro?

May not be relevant but if you are not using it regularly it could be residue sediment left in the pump. The in-line filter will help, but dependent on what you rinse with it may also be a contributing factor. Give it a good flush with cold water at the end of each day. Same goes for portables too.

I think hydramaster sell jet screens/check valves etc.  Check valves will stop your jets dribbling when the trigger isn't pulled but in my experiences the springs don't last very long.  The screens are an essential piece of kit.  If you've got bog standard brass jets, you can buy a new set of stainless with the screens and/or check valves and enjoy months of trouble-free wanding.  Can't remember the last time I even took mine off to inspect and never get blocked jets.  cost a few quid but what price do you put on removing a big pain in the a$$?

De-scaling is simple.  Turn off supply pump, half empty your header tank, add appropriate amount of de-scaler and circulate through all your lengths of hose, finishing with an open-ended hose feeding back into the header tank.  Get her nice and hot, circulating the de-scaler for 10 minutes or so, and also put each wand/tool in line and pump a bit through it.  Switch off and let it sit for a couple of hours, then run it up hot re-circulating again for 5-10 mins.  Point your open ended hose down the sewer, switch the supply pump back on and flush the system out, including the wands/tools.

Whilst doing this I'd take off all jets from wands and soak in a cupful of strong de-scaler solution.  There might be a filter on your supply pump which needs checking for debris.

Good opportunity also to re-charge your water softener, vacuum all the crud out of your header tank, completely empty the water tank and vac the crud out of it too.  Then start fresh with a tank full of nice soft water with no bits in it, and a scale-free machine :)

Jim... You forgot to mention a thorough rinse afterwards. This is an important part as the acid decsaler will cause corrosion if left in the machine hoses. I always put an alkiline solution through afterwards followed by a good rinse with cold water.

No probs Gary ;)

Mick I did say flush the system out, but a good idea to emphasise the importance :)

Tom, depends on the type of softener, but I would think most are like mine - a main cannister that has a resin insert inside it.  Every 1,000 litres or so, you should back-flush it and re-charge.  You use a smaller pot filled with softener salt, through which you run water to dissolve the salt and carry in to the main cannister where the dissolved minerals stick to the resin.  When you pass tap water through it whilst filling up, the softener will then exchange (calcium for magnesium?) thus reducing limescale build up inside your machinery.

Thanks Jim,
That's how I do mine, the recharge bit confused me. Sounded too technical.
Regards.
