Dye Gone - 2 week trial!
« on: May 28, 2012, 08:04:07 pm »
Well I have been using Dye Gone from Chemspec for about two weeks or 3 jobs, and I've got to say its a great product!

First job was a wine stain and a bad yellow/brown stain created by a plant pot << that stain looked permenante!

Second job was coffee and wine stain again. All 100% removed.

Third job (today) Irnbru and fake tan! A proper baaastard of a combination! The irnbru sucessful, fake tan 80-90% gone, but still a little bit visable.

So all in all a great product BUT in the future i will be using it only on fake tan and irnbru type stains. I think its too pricey for the amount of product you get! I'll go back to using sod met on the other stains mentioned as it does the job and its more econimcal!

I was being ultra frugal in my aplication and still used it all up in a few stain removal jobs.

Has anyone tried Knock Out from HydraMaster? Will you get similar results to Dye Gone? I've noticed thats half the price, more chemical and looks like the same type of product!

Yes I shed a few when each atomised particle came out as well, its an expensive but good product and better than buying 2 separate products IMO.

I'd just charge a fair price for stain removal using that particular product to cover costs.

I've been trialling it against Hydramaster's Knock Out which is much cheaper and can't really see any difference between the two.

Simon I thought knockout's formula was changed recently and it's not as good any more?

Neil,
It was, maybe they've changed back. I made some deliberate Irun Bru stains and treated one with Dye Gone and the other with Knock Out, both came out no problem and the stains I've tried that won't come out, don't come out with either.

The cost of dye gone is possibly the chems that stabilise the product making it a one part. it is no hassle to mix a bit of knockout each time it is required really, it is a good product to carry.

Dye gone is 2-part, exactly the same as knock out!

just buy it raw and make your own up when needed, cheaper.
