As above knock the door yaself why pay for something that you are more than capable of doing yourself .
just like customers really , they cant be bothered to clean there own windows so they get someone else to do it it's madness paying for something you can do .

some people do not have the time, or just don't want to do it, that is why there are canvassing companies.

why not but an ad on gumtree

The canvassing is pretty much dead where my work is , almost every house has the old no cold callers or canvasser sticker on , lots also have no flyers or free papers !

I remember one street , i had one custie on it , there was at least 200 houses in the road all £10 or £12 touches , i decided to leaflet it , almost every house had the usual sign on the door , but with an addition to the bottom

NO SALES PEOPLE
WE HAVE UPVC
NO RELIGION
WE LIKE OUR POWER SUPPLIER
NO WINDOW CLEANERS

The truth was every w/c wanted the road , it was a goldmine !

I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

I know a place like that but the prices aren't good because the people who live there are used to not paying much for their window cleaning.

I've got seven of them and charge them around £12 to £15 and they nearly dropped a brick, because their previous window cleaner (who just dumped them) charged £7 each.

The best accounts are the 'awkward' accounts, 'cos you can price them well, IMO.

Supply and demand 'n' all that.

When you go out door knocking, how do you decide where to go.

Do you just pick a street and set off? What if their is already a window cleaner in that street, do you still knock them all in case he does not do an odd one or two??

thats the best way to start, every street or estate will have cleaners working them, but they dont clean every house.

the same applies to the ones who say you are in their area.

Its up to the customer who they use not the cleaner who is working the area.

be different

When I first started on me Todd I targeted a brand new estate thinking (naively)I'd have a much better chance of striking gold - after about 2hrs of folk saying "not another bloody window cleaner, crikey you must be about the fourth or fifth to knock in last week" - I gave up, a bit disallusioned and morale low  :(

After a while I figured sod it - they can't all have a cleaner and if you don't ask you don't get - so every time I'm out cleaning I'll leaflet drop/knock a street which maybe is a little weaker on my round

If I go out on a day off specifically to canvass, I'll pick a street/estate/village where I fancy and want to clean on (I.e I don't really canvass 'certain' areas because I know I can charge more elsewhere) and I'm not bothered how many other cleaners are there - business is business mate  :) :)
