An office cleaning customer had water come in under the front door. I have no experience of this and would welcome any opinions on if it's cleanable or is permanant damage, the best chems to use and likely result.

Looks like these could be Tretford Tiles: -

These are 80% Goat Hair and 20% Wool.

They look to be turning mouldy.

It may be cheaper / better to just replace, if only a few affected.

If cleaning agreed upon then try some M-Power pre-sprayed over the affected area, leave to dwell for 20 minutes, then extract with plain warm water.

If you can see ribbed carpet tiles in that photo Ian then you've got bloody good eyesight

Hi Steve, eyesight is good, but not that good.

Tiles reminded me of a job we looked at a while ago which turned out to be Tretford. The rep even came out with us as a previous cleaner had soaked / wrecked them. That said, now you mention it they were definately ribbed in appearance, my error, sorry to OP.

Regardless whether Tretford or not, why would M-Power do this Paul?

I had total success with M-Power on mouldy carpet before now but the mould was surface only.

There could be water trapped beneath the tiles which could continue to cause problems so it may be wise to consider uplifting / replacing.

Steve who posted earlier was a fitter in a past life, he'll be able to advise better than most.

As they are tiles, I would uplift them as a matter of course in order to inspect the sub-floor for damage and if necessary to allow the sub-floor to dry out.

Ideally I would swap those tiles for newer/less worn tiles from an unobtrusive area - if possible.

To clean the affected tiles you could indeed try MPower or an anti-microbial such as the one from Chemspec whos name escapes me.

BTW I still supply and fit carpets and have just finished 10 flats and all the common areas in an apartment building refurbishment - a very lucrative contract and very welcome as I've been quiet on the cleaning side other than some high ticket jobs from existing clients, new enquiries are thin on the ground.

Owen I got a job this afternoon to clean some more office carpet tiles. They are water marked like the ones you have shown and lots and lots of tea and coffee stains.....
It is in Andover on monday morning, you still have my email, do you want to see how I clean them as we agreed before??
