ID badge when canvassing/working
« on: May 20, 2012, 11:05:42 pm »
As I am still in the process of building my run up, I need to canvass some more. On another thread I mentioned improving my image to look more professional in the eyes of (potential) customers, and thus now wear smart new proprietory workwear.

To go with this I have made up an ID badge on which I have included my name, address, the service I am offering and phone number, together with an up to date head and shoulders photo.

I would like to know what your thoughts are on whether it is likely to create a favourable impression for attracting more high quality customers, or am I going OTT.

Also, please let me know your thoughts on whether I should wear the ID badge when 'on the glass' .

Thanks in advance guys.

John

to be honest no one will know who bwca is so next to useless (old poeople are the ones that like id badges but again they will not have a clue who they are so will but you on a back step at the door) , wear a uniform (top, with logo) that corresponds with your leaflet to gain trust at the door, this is tried and tested to work by real window cleaners  ;)

to the OP the idea is good but honestly it is not needed, unless as I said your trying to go for the OAP market which is a dying breed (pardon the pun) so not the best way to go for long term business.

People that have there door knocked are used to people knocking believe it or not  ;D, dont put them off by wearing it around your neck, it is a mistake ( I learnt this years ago) you will instantly make them think your selling them something, if BW what ever it is saying to do this they are way out of touch imo and need real people that do things like this to have input on the courses that they run and not yes people

That's a good idea. Dandruff is a big put off for some customers.

OAP's a dying breed? Funny, I always thought people were living longer - probably the biggest market out there at the moment.

it was meant in a light hearted way, although I personally don't target OAP's

I would not say they are the very best customers at all, but I do have some very sweet older people on my rounds, and I am a sucker when they ask me to do things for them, I treat many of them like I would my Nan, make them cups of tea ask if they need anything doing (this is the reason I dont target them) as my heart is not always good for business.
