Had an old Coke stain on light beige wool carpet last year. Tried a few things but couldn't budge it. One of the times since I started that I felt frustrated and to be honest, a bit out of my depth.

A year on and I still don't think I could have budged it. I think I would have given in earlier though as the more you try the wettter it gets and thus the darker it looks.

I look forward to some answers to this one. The major point here will not only be the amount of time it's been down but also what has been tried by the home owner during that time.

Club soda works wonders on a variety of water soluble stains.I suggest you always keep a can of club soda on hand at room temperature. Club soda is carbonated water; thus, club soda will not cause any damage to the carpet backing. You can slowly drizzle a small amount directly on the spill, but we caution you to not soak the carpet. Club soda does not leave a residue and therefore does not need to be rinsed out. In fact, club soda can be used as the rinsing agent for other cleaners.
