How much water on typical 3 bed semi
« on: May 13, 2012, 02:23:20 pm »

I seem to be using a hell of a lot of water on 1 clean, i know after bit of getting used to it I will use less just yesterday got a whole day cleaning and ran out of water and had to go back to refill, i think im using about 30 litres on a typical 3 bed semi...

How much would you more experienced cleaners be using?

Have 2 conservatories to clean Monday which are covered in green algae, customers have no outside tap using me pure water only option, i got some tfr which shuld help abit, will be a good test to use as little water than i can and still do a top job on it.

I do the odd job with a pure freedom trolley they are only topped up to about 20L, a 3 bed semi never takes more than half, so 10L is about the norm

I have a 400 litre tank and these are indeed 1st cleans, now I know 1st cleans new a bit more attention but I think im using bit to much, i dont really mind that much would rather have the job done right but just looking an idea what i should be using, as i said before ive a couple of big cleans this week and dont want to be having to go back to refill if I can avoid...

I suppose with practice i will get better/use less water and maybe with a trigger that might help also.

I have a 400L tank also but managed to get a pure freedom trolley off eBay with enough 25L canisters to carry another 200 litres and has made all the difference,I also if I can charge slightly more and put a 1st clean onto a not so heavy day

Got my 2 biggish jobs done today along with 12 houses and i even had some water left in the tank  ;D

1st job was massive conservatory which hadnt been cleaned in 5 years since it was built, the green algae was caked into the pvc joints and on the glass, im supprised any sun even got in there  :o Really wanted to get before and afrer pics of this one as when I was finished it was like brand new again, while i was cleaning it the customer was sitting in it with a few friends have lunch so didnt want to be taking any snaps of them might of thought i was some right weirdo! But as it happens i got 2 new cleans booked from it 2 of her friends were well impressed with the results!

I dont mind using loads water as ive a rain water harvesting system which fill up a 1000 litre cube and is always full with a TDS of around 009, so resin usage isnt going to be massive either..

Although defo going to get a tap or trigger as i could see today i could have used a fair bit less.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as your end job is good.  First cleans normally use about 25 if they are not to bad, I use the sureflow controller set to 4 for just about everything  ;D but then I use barrels and when you're humping them about you tend to try a little harder to cut down.

I've now got tanks so hopefully I'll not come unstuck.  I would say on a good day I can get two 3 beds maintenance cleans out of a 25ltr barrel but then it really depends on how munting they are.

Got a similar job Thursday... what is anything did you use on the conny if anything ( detergent .. pre spray etc..) or did you just use pure and scrub?

I used TFR as a pre spray and tbh it made the job far easier, i try cleaning bit without using it and it does involve a lot more scrubbing and arm ache! I got a 15 litre sprayer in B+Q  and applied it with that

let me know how you get on with that plactic thing by the tap as it does not protect the tap and gets in the way. if you like it and need a spare I have one, it annoyed the hell out of me

20 liters on average is fine, 30 is doable too if they are dirty first cleans are a nightmare!
