Try bleeding it,I mean by sucking on the hose,it could be an air lock.

How old is it? The diaphragm might be split in the pump resulting in no suction.

have you disconnected before the pump  to insure the water flows out of the tank ?
not sure on ionics set up, but should have a filter before the pump is this blocked ?

worth checking if you havent before ordering a part

I had something similar the other week, mines a shurflo. My mate suggested to disconnect pump from hose reel end and simply pour some pure water into the pump.I wasn't convinced, but tried it anyway and to my surprise when i turned it on again full blast it was working fine again and it has since.Worth a try!

My Pump went a few months back , all it was , was the brushes needed a scrape , they are spring loaded , so be carefull if you dismantle it , not had a problem since ,, its fiddley putting it back together , with the springs , I used very small bogie sized bits of Blu Tak to hold them back whilst putting it back in the caseing , or rather we did , an junior apprentice on a job helped me out , I`m not that mechanically minded -- if we did it , anyone else can
